For that, this guide has been updated to include the latest version of the Jing Yuan built in Honkai: Star Rail.

Jing Yuan's best relics in Honkai: Star Rail
The best relic set for Jing Yuan i Honkai: Star Rail is The Ash Flaming Grand Duke. He can activate the full 8 stacks on the first follow-up attack that his Lightning Lord launches, giving Jing Yuan up to 48% ATK. Other than that, Band of Sizzling Thunder is still good if you have good substats.
If 4 pcs The Ashblazing Grand Duke is unavailable, players can mix a 2pc with other offensive relics such as Band of Sizzling Thunder, Pioneer Diver of Dead Waters, Scholar Lost in Erudition, Musketeer of Wild Wheat, Prisoner in Deep Confinement, or The Wind-Soaring Valorous.
As for the flat ornament, The Wonderful Banana Amusement Park is the best option to maximize Crit DMG, but the original Inert Salsotto is also good for increasing the General's Crit Rate along with his Ultimate and follow-up DMG. Space Sealing Station and Firmament Frontline: Glamoth are good replacements, but they don't come close to how good the follow up attack buff is on Jing Yuan.

Besides Jing Yuan's best-in-open light cone, Before dawnthe 5-star Himeko weapon i Honkai: Star Rail, Night on the Milky Way is also profitable for him. While the passive isn't perfect for the general, the fact that it's a 5-star gear is enough to outdo some 4-star options. For 4-star Light Cones, the Honkai: Star Rail Battle Pass weapons, Today is another peaceful day is brilliant because it gives an unconditional, universal DMG bonus to Jing Yuan. As for the non-spenders, those who won The birth of the self Light Cone from the Warps can totally use it on Jing Yuan as it improves the follow up attack DMG done by his Lightning Lord. Genius Rest is also profitable, although not as good as the other non-F2P options.
Finally F2P players can use The seriousness of breakfast or The day Cosmos fell. Both candlesticks can be obtained from the Forgotten Hall, while The Seriousness of Breakfast can also be obtained by doing quests, or even by opening the triple authentication door in Honkai: Star Rail.

How to play Jing Yuan in Honkai: Star Rail
Jing Yuan is a unique Erudition character whose playstyle mostly revolves around his Lightning Lord (LL). Jing Yuan's LL damage is considered one follow-up attackallowing players to use items that enhance follow-up DMG or Blessings of Elation in the simulated universe.
Lightning Lord has a base SPD of 60 and will hit automatically (players can see this in the turn sequence at the top left). It has at least three stacks and can have up to 10. Each stack decides how many hits LL will do, and each additional stack also increases their SPD by 10. To gain more stacks, players must use Skill and Ultimate, which add two and three stacks, respectively.
When it's his turn, the Lord of Lightning will attack three enemies at once, a main goal and two adjacent targets. The main target will take full damage, while enemies next to it will take 25% of the original DMG. Note that this the main goal is randomso LL can hit an enemy at the end of the line and just hit an adjacent target together with it. Fortunately, every LL meeting have one different main goalsmeaning the RNG won't be too cruel even when this happens.
Usually, Lightning Lord will move shortly after Jing Yuan uses his skill, so players will only have five stacks. The fact that he needs three to four Skill casts to replenish his Ultimate can make it quite difficult for players to have more than five stacks, which is why SPD boost and SPD stat may come in handy for him. Has more than five stacks is even more crucial when players unlock Jing Yuan's Ascension 2 Trace, which increases the Lightning Lord's Crit DMG by 25%.
