Death Stranding 2: On the Beach director Hideo Kojima has given fans a look at the preliminary menu screen for the upcoming action game. Scheduled for release in 2025, Death Stranding 2 is a PS5 exclusive title and the sequel to 2019's Death Stranding.
After first being announced at The Game Awards 2022, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach has steadily taken shape as another eccentric Hideo Kojima game, star-studded with a stellar cast including Norman Reedus, Léa Seydoux and Elle Fanning among others. It is the continuation of the post-apocalyptic saga started by the original Death Stranding and sees some key characters return in the sequel. Throughout the year, Kojima has been sharing new material related to the game, including a trailer during publisher Sony's State of Play event in February and another showing at the Tokyo Games Show in September, fueling fan anticipation.

Death Stranding 2 can't miss the chance to lift a bold movie from the original
A central part of the first Death Stranding's story is sadly underexplored in the game, and its sequel, On the Beach, should change that.
Taking to Twitter, Kojima gave fans the latest look at Death Stranding 2: On the Beachshares the menu screen and menu options from the current version of the game. The image shows Sam Porter Bridges kissing a baby, in the menu background, with Death Stranding 2 logo above it. It's worth noting that, in addition to the basics, there's also a “Recap of Death Stranding” option on the menu screen. In the caption, industry veteran Kojima shared how they've been busy with “voiceover recording sessions, weekly meetings, changing the game, monitoring control,” preventing them from playing the game even a little bit. They also stressed that the menu screen shown in the image is preliminary and may change in the final version that will eventually hit stores.
Death Stranding 2 Sneak Peek puts the spotlight on the game's menu screen
The background image used in Death Stranding 2s menu screen shows the protagonist, played by Norman Reedus, in a tender moment. Interestingly, it is one of the most used promotional images for the game as it also appears as the main image on the developer's website and on the game's PS Store page, while also being the YouTube thumbnail for the latest trailer. Looking at the menu options basically confirms that a recap of the story for the original Death Stranding will be there. This feature will provide new players with a convenient way to catch up on the story of the bizarre open world game as well as offer returning players an optional memory refresher.
Last month at the Tokyo Games Show, developer Kojima Productions showed off some eye-catching features such as Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is set to deliver, such as the new photo mode and in-game dance events. Furthermore, Kojima shared that the sequel aims to mix gameplay with storytelling in ways that would make the sequel “weirder” than the first game. But about getting more experimental with the already baffling plot Death Stranding is the right move or not, only time will tell.
