Ghost of Yotei is a brilliant step forward, but I miss an essential part of Ghost of Tsushima

In many ways, Ghost of Yotei Is a masterclass in how to create a sequel that not only honors its predecessor but makes it even better. It is extremely difficult to unite a strong predecessor, especially as well -made as Ghost of Tsushimaand Ghost of Yotei has handled such a performance.

When Ghost of Tsushima The world was launched five years ago and was deep in the trails from the Covid-19 pandemic, but thanks to Jins Sakai's journey it was much easier to pass the time under Lockdown than I expected. Of course when Ghost of Yotei was revealed last year, I was ecstatic. Not only was I also forced by the new protagonist ATSU, but also time jumps and fresh weapons. Thankfully, these aspects of Ghost of Yotei have met and exceeded my expectations, but there is one Ghost of Tsushima Function that I have found myself is missing: the linear focused story.

Ghost of Yotei's open narrative work, but I long for Ghost of Tsushima's linear approach

This Ghost of Yotei combat function makes you stunning when you first see it

Don't misunderstand me, Ghost of YoteiMore freedom -focused method for telling their story is well done, but as a lover of narratively driven stories I have only always forced more against linear roads. It also does not mean that I do not love free-roam games. Red Dead Redemption 2The Cyberpunk 2077The Deathand Marvel's spider are some of my favorite games over the past decade, but I simply have a preference to go from point A to point B, as The last of us part 2 and War god. Ghost of Yotei Remixes many of its predecessors' features and how players develop the story is among the long list.

Ghost of Yotei makes his open map feel much more meaningful than Ghost of TsushimaS, which is good. Some of me, however, wish that the open world -inspired aspects were simply left to side activities and not how ATSU handles Yotei Six. Players have much more to say how they approach to take down the group, which many fans will have fun with. But for me, I think the play of the playoffs would be much more affective if there was a denser linear structure. Having several mission markers related to Yotei Six can ruin my focus, but it is purely a matter of preference.

At the end of the day, the Ghost of Yotei does the landing

Overall, this criticism is a slight decline in much larger water filled with praise. Honestly, after Ghost of Yoteiit can be difficult to go back to Ghost of TsushimaDespite how much I loved the first chapter. Whether it is the landscape, the battle, the music or the addition of the wolf, Ghost of Yotei Simply takes Sucker Punch's series to brand new heights.

I can be in minority when it comes to Ghost of Yotei'S open story, but that's okay. Because in the end it is still one of the most impressive play of the year. Although my main criticism lies within the player's ability to choose how the story develops, it culminates everything in the same end, and it is a really powerful one.

Ghost of TsushimaMore linear focused path may have scraped my brain in a better way, but when comparing the two in addition to their storytelling methods, Ghost of Yotei Still reigning the highest for me. Playing as Attsu was a wonderfully emotional revenge -filled journey. Sucker Punch did a beautiful job of creating a protagonist who is both physically powerful yet emotionally hurt, and no matter how her story develops, it is one of the strongest of the year for me.
