Important takeaways
- Genshin Impact will expand Natlan in version 5.2 with new regions and characters such as Chasca.
- A leaked topographical map hints at Mare Jivari, the Sea of Ashes, possibly accessible by the Waverider.
- Natlan's growth could mirror Fontaine's and could mean a significant expansion in the game's open world.
The latest topographic data for Genshin Impact not only reveals the upcoming Natlan zones, but also pinpoints the region believed to be Mare Jivari. When Genshin Impact originally launched on September 28, 2020, players only had access to Mondstadt and Liyue. Over the course of its history, it added Inazuma, Sumeru, Fontaine, and Natlan, as Teyvat's borders continued to expand in all directions. Version 5.0 introduced the first zone of Natlan, allowing players to explore the lands of the Children of Echoes, Scions of the Canopy, and People of the Springs.
The next map expansion brings Natlan in Genshin Impact is slated for version 5.2, which will include the ruins of the Eternal Empire, Ochkanatlan, as well as the settlement of the Flower-Feather Clan. Rather fittingly, Chasca will be joining the playable cast in version 5.2, giving players an alternative way to explore the new zone without having to use the Saurian form. Although it is not yet confirmed, it is very possible that version 5.2 will also introduce the area belonging to the Master of the Night Wind, as Ororon will also make his debut in the same patch.
While Uncle Teyvat teased the upcoming Natlan zones with a previous leak, a new topographical map from Jelena paints a more detailed picture of what Genshin Impact players can expect in future updates. It's almost guaranteed that the Collective of Plenty will get their due when the map expands towards the great volcano Tollan, although the exact location of the tribe cannot be determined yet. Especially Natlan i Genshin Impact will also include an island between Tollan and Ochkanatlan – a possible location for the Collective of Plenty. But perhaps the most exciting discovery that Jelena has made is a lonely island in the far west that can only be Mare Jivari.
Genshin Impact Leak Teases Mare Jivari For A Future Natlan Update
Mare Jivari has been part of Genshin Impacts lore since version 1.0, and players have been wondering about it for years. Mare Jivari, described as a sea of ash where the wind does not blow, is the westernmost point of Teyvat and is said to contain a sea of fire. The map shared by Jelena places Mare Jivari far away from Ochkanatlan, implying that players would likely need to use the Waverider to reach it. If Natlan follows a similar pattern to Fontaine, players can expect Mare Jivari to be the last zone added to the region before Snezhnaya.
While leaks should always be taken with a grain of salt, it appears Natlan's size will be closer to Fontaine than Sumeru. That being said, if rumors of a Mondstadt map expansion turn out to be true, the open world is coming Genshin Impact will grow significantly during the Natlan era. Although version 5.2 will not launch until November 20, 2024, players should expect more information about the upcoming Natlan zones after October 9, 2024.
