Gaming is one of the most popular hobbies and pastimes that help players entertain themselves and deal with the stress of everyday life. Game done quicklyfor the past 14 years, has used speedrunning to help those in need by raising money for several charities. While the main events usually focus on the Prevent Cancer Foundation and Doctors Without Borders, special marathons have been held when the players behind Games Done Quick feel the need to help other causes. One such event would be the Games Done Quick Express, held at TwitchCon, which supported ten charities simultaneously in 2018. Sometimes, in response to prominent current events, Games Done Quick will fittingly quickly assemble a group of speedrunners to help those affected of effects at hand.
The reach of Games Done Quick and the generosity of those involved in the event has helped internationally by aiming to help with tsunami relief for Japan in 2011, and later, even worldwide through the Corona Relief Done Quick event to raise money for to help those affected by the Coronavirus pandemic early in 2020. As Hurricane Helene has caused massive damage and destruction in its wake, GDQ has once again assembled talented speedrunners to help out at a moment's notice. Players interested in pitching in to help the many people in several US states in need can look forward to GDQ's Disaster Relief Done Quick starting on October 11th and continuing through October 13th.

Disaster relief made fast Aims to help with the devastation of Hurricane Helen
Disaster relief ready Quick highlights how Hurricane Helen's impact cannot be ignored
Games Done Quick may organize extra events from time to time, but it usually sticks to a summer and winter schedule. GDQ has the female side event Flame and Frost Fatales, but it's pretty hit or miss in terms of the organization's regular schedule overall. Even the Games Done Quick Express at TwitchCon has missed a few years, and there have only been four charity events that GDQ has put together in response to current events since Japan Relief Done Quick in 2011.
The most recent was Corona Relief Done Quick 2020, meaning the upcoming Disaster Relief Done Quick breaks the trend of at least three to four Games Done Quick events per year, all to help those in need due to Hurricane Helene's damage. GDQ's story of stepping up to help with disaster relief serves as an unspoken statement about how badly the Category 4 cyclone ravaged the eastern United States, undoubtedly affecting gamers just like streamer Tfue along with regular people across Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, North Carolina, and Virginia. Disaster Relief Done Quick aims to donate to Direct Relief, a charity dedicated to helping people in poverty in emergencies.
Games Done Quick has previously supported Direct Relief in two events – Corona Relief Done Quick, and as one of the charities supported at Games Done Quick Express 2018. It's also worth noting how quickly Disaster Relief Done Quick is set up as whole as Games Done Quick just wrapped up their Express 2024 event at TwitchCon just two days before Helene went ashore. While the October event likely won't raise as much as the previous Summer Games Done Quick and Awesome Games Done Quick events have, which most GDQ side events typically haven't, it's still very clear that GDQ has good intentions and wants to help those hurting in the wake of the storm. Those interested in watching or even donating can look forward to Disaster Relief Done Quick taking place on Games Done Quick's Twitch channel starting on October 11th at 6 p.m. ET through October 13 at 11:59 PM ET.
