Specifically, in May, Fortnite experienced a record low number of players, one that it had not experienced since 2023.

Star Wars apparently was not a hit in Fortnite

As first reported by Dexerto, Fortnite saw an average of 1,043,448 players, including a peak of 2,356,174 players, according to statistics on the site Fortnite.GG. On the surface there is a large number, one that many games would kill to have, but for Fortnite it represents a two -year low.

The last time that Fortnite had so few players was May 2023, when an average of 924 795 players, with a 1,813,911 top.

On the back of the low numbers, epic games on social media revealed that on June 7, it will be ranked sunset, which means that players only have a handful of days left to play it before it disappears.

It is unclear why exactly Fortnite experienced such lowness in May, as Star Wars as a whole had an increase in popularity, with Battlefront 2 in particular to see a huge turn. That said, it may be that players were less than enthusiastic with the available selection of weapons or the presence of an AI Chatbot version of Darth Vader.

In the end, only time will show if this reduction in players is just a blip in the timeline or a sign of things that are coming.
