Fortnite Leakers Claim OG Map Will Return Permanently In December

Important takeaways

  • Fortnite is rumored to be bringing back its OG map in December.

  • Reliable leakers have claimed that the game's original map will be back and that this time it will be here to stay.

  • If accurate, the original map will also go through the first ten seasons of Fortnite and exclusively include loot from Chapter 1.

It's been almost exactly a year since Epic made one of the most popular Fortnite decisions in the game's history – bringing back the live service title's very first map. The only mistake the studio made was removing it again, and on the one-year anniversary of the OG map's return, it may well have plans to go back and fix that mistake.

Fortnite's Remix season kicked off over the weekend. Similar to the 2023 OG season, Remix has brought back elements from Fortnite's past. It's not a complete return like it was last year though, and the previous weapons and elements that made their triumphant returns are all from Chapter 2. However, Epic hasn't forgotten that players want the original map back, and according to two of Fortnite's biggest and most reliable leakers, these wishes will be granted in December.

Both Hypex and Shiina have claimed that an anonymous source has verified Fortnite's OG map will return in December. Not only that, but according to the reliable source, the map will be back permanently, something many started asking after the second time they set foot on it again in 2023.

Fortnite's original map will hopefully be back for good this holiday season

Epic might be wrapping a real present right now

If this information is correct, Fortnite Chapter 1's return will be more than just the game's first map to return. Shiina and Hypex have also been told that the OG map mode will go through the first ten seasons of the game again, so you can relive them, or for those who haven't been there from the beginning, play through them for the first time. The seasons will each be a month long, meaning that if the first begins in December, Chapter 1's return will run until at least September 2025.

In addition to the original map and the chance to relive the first ten seasons of Fortnite, it is also believed that only the loot that could be found in the game at the time will be available, which will really make the mode feel like the original Fortnite if true. You will of course still be able to glide and cloak, and there will be Build and Zero Build options. You don't have to go back to worrying about a tower popping up around the player you shot a bullet at if you've gotten used to Zero Build like me.

A reminder that this has not been officially revealed or even confirmed at this time. It comes from reliable leakers, and I'm sure the information is solid, but that doesn't mean plans can't change. If all is well and everything goes according to plan, Epic is expected to announce a mode that will allow players to permanently return to Fortnite's first chapter either during Remix's Finale on November 30th or at The Game Awards on December 13th.
