Final Fantasy 7 Revelation confirms its first minigame

Final Fantasy 7 Revelation game director Naoki Hamaguchi said that the infamous battle between Tifa and Scarlet will return as a mini-game in the upcoming title. Final Fantasy 7 Revelation will be the deciding final in Final Fantasy 7 Remake series, with many callbacks to the original Final Fantasy 7 which longtime fans may recognize.

Final Fantasy 7 Revelation was revealed during the final segment of the Summer Games Fest, when fans were given a taste of the game's story and gameplay elements. Final Fantasy 7 Revelation launches next spring on all current-gen platforms, meaning it won't have timed PlayStation exclusivity like its predecessors. Despite the discrepancies between the original game and Final Fantasy 7 Remake Square Enix has made sure that certain elements from the PS1 classic were carried over to Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Rebirth in some capacity.

Along with large open-world environments for players to traverse, Final Fantasy 7 Revelationn will offer some highly requested mini-games as part of the story. Hamaguchi said in an interview with Denfamico (translated by Aitaikimochi on Twitter) that the battle between Tifa and Scarlet would return as one of Revelations mini-games during the story. In the original Final Fantasy 7the battle occurred after Tifa and Barret were captured by Shinra forces and sentenced to public execution in Junon. But the emergence of the Sapphire Weapon gave Tifa and Barret a chance to escape. Tifa ran onto the barrel of the Mako Cannon and engaged Scarlet in a melee. The minigame itself was a quick event that required players to press a specific button when a prompt appeared on the screen. Regardless of the outcome of the fight, Tifa then fled to Highwind.

Hamaguchi also gave some insight into the features players can expect in the game Final Fantasy 7 Revelation. Hamaguchi said that the number of mini-games in the Revelation would not be reduced from Rebirthbut the difficulty of some activities will be toned down after player feedback. Given that Hamaguchi previously lamented the difficulty curve behind some of the Final Fantasy 7 Rebirthtrophies and achievements, it is possible that the players will have a less boring time in Final Fantasy 7 Revelation.

However, the relaxation fight is not the only activity that Final Fantasy 7 fans can enjoy in the Book of Revelation. In an interview in January 2026, Hamaguchi confirmed that Queen's Blood would be back Final Fantasy 7 Revelation. The popular card game from Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will be “started” for Revelationthough it's unclear what changes Square Enix has in store for Queen's Blood. With the Tokyo Game Show and Gamescom just around the corner, it remains to be seen when the developers will share more information with fans.
