Updated April 27, 2025 by Mohsen Baqery: The expanded Family Quest is still one of the best ways to grow some of the rare creatures in the game. Even better, the Stardew Valley 1.6 update gave a number of changes in fish mechanics and introduced several new items for fishermen, which made it much easier to farm's legendary fish during the assignment. With that in mind, we have updated this guide to cover the new tools that help complete the extended family order and to provide more detailed information about where to find each of the assignments' legendary fish.

In Walnut Room on Ginger Island, Qi gives you a fishing search called The Extended Family. The description of the order notifies you that “Family members to the legendary fish have returned. You have three days to Catch Miss Angler, Glocerfish Jr., Son of Crimsonfish, Radioactive Carp and Legend II. “By doing so, you earn 20 qi tones.

Mrs. Angler
Head north of Joja Mart To find a narrow waterway with a small bridge. Here you have the opportunity to capture MS Angler, the alternative variant of the legendary fisherman. To improve your chances of a successful catch, place yourself on the bridge and throw your fishing line in the opposite direction of the current.
Glacierfish Jr.
IN Cindersap ForestThere is a triangular island in the water. To take a shot on catching 
Glacierfish Jr.
., Stand on this island and fish in the surrounding water. For an extra advantage, place yourself on the country's right corner.
Son of Crimsonfish
Repair the broken bridge on the beach to access the eastern pierA place that is crucial for fishing for rare creatures. The repair project requires 300 wooden parts. After managing to fix the bridge, start fishing in the sea from the eastern pier to catch the hard -cap

in drains. If you haven't unlocked this area yet, donate 60 items to the museum. When you achieve this goal, you will be rewarded with the rusty key, which opens the door to sewage, where you can fish for mutant and radioactive fish.
Legend II
The 
Legend II
Located in Mountain Lake, near the tent. Open the small islands in the middle of the dust and throw your hook at the southern parts of the waterway to catch the last member of the large family and finish Qi's mission.
The Iridium bar, the curiosity, leadbber and wild bait are important subjects to the extended family's mission. These fishing amplifiers increase the chance of finding rare sea creatures, which helps to speed up the progress of words.
The Stardew Valley 1.6 Update introduced several new fishing tools that can further improve the odds to capture legendary fish and complete the extended family's mission more efficiently. The following items from this update are recommended for those aimed at beating the assignment with maximum efficiency:

Sonar Bobbare
: This new tackle lets you see the fish before deciding to catch it and prevent time wasted on the fishing memory if the catch is not the one you are targeting.

Advanced iridium bar
: This article allows you to equip two tackles, and the best thing is that their effects stack and increase your fish efficiency.
- Lucky Purple shorts: If you place the mayor Lewi's underwear in the first tackle site for the advanced iridium bar, it will preserve the durability of the secondary tackle.
Can you repeat the extended family's mission?
The expanded family order is regularly displayed in QI's walnut room. It may take some time before the assignment reappears on the list, but it is possible to complete it several times within the same Playthrough.
Veteran players often use the extended family's mission as a strategy to capture as many legendary fish as possible. By avoiding the last fish, they can continue to grow the others throughout the assignment's duration, resulting in huge profits. For example, catching several legend II fish, smoking them and selling each one can net about 20,000 g to 30,000 g each.
