Considering how successful Don't Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro was, it doesn't make much sense for Nanashi to explore other themes. Don't kid me, Miss Nagatoro is primarily a romantic comedy, and a great one at that. So Nanashi should definitely include this particular theme in his next story.

A slice-of-life manga series would also be a good option. There are elements of life in Don't Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro, but they are kept to a minimum. Nanashi's next project could certainly bring the theme to the fore.

Obviously, Nanashi has the freedom to choose the theme for his next series. So he can even create an action adventure manga. For it to be successful, the author must have at least some experience. Don't Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro began serialization in Magazine Pocket in November 2017. It continued to run until July 2024. According to the latest report available, Don't Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro has sold over 3.3 million copies, which is by no means a bad number.

The anime adaptation of the series was announced back in 2020, but it did not air until April 2011. The next season was announced in October 2021. Most of the staff involved in the initial season changed their roles except for Hirokazu Hanai, who was replaced by Shinji Ushiro. Telecom Animation Studio was replaced by OLM Entertainment. Don't Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro's second season was released in January 2023. A third season has yet to be announced, but since the manga is already over, it shouldn't be too long.
