The good Valley tournament was notorious to have many legendary devil fruits that were intended to be prices for all heavenly dragons that chased down a large number of innocent civilians/slaves. But shortly after a bunch of powerful pirates arrived at the island and chaos broke out, two young slaves, Bartholomew Kuma and Emporio Ivankov took advantage of the situation to escape and find two of these devil fruits: Nikyu nikyu no mi and uo uo no mi, model: seiryu respectively.
They both suddenly became ambushed by Charlotte Linlin (alias Big Mom), who wanted to acquire one of these devil fruits and give it to her younger crewmate, Kaido, but Kuma quickly ate Nikyu Nikyu No Mi before it could be stolen from him. This was a blessing in disguise that changed the course of history, as he ended up exercising his newfound rejecting forces to save several people under the notorious good Valley incident, while the young member of Rocks Pirates would probably have used them for more abominable purposes.
Uo uo no mi, model: seiryu
