A standard game of Dead in daylight is held with five players, four of whom take on the roles of survivors trying to run generators to escape the trial area and one becomes the killer who is out to stop them by any means necessary. The first instance of a 2v8 mode in Dead in daylightfeaturing two Killers hunting down eight survivors, was held in July 2024, and the double-sized game mode has proven popular with fans every time the team at Behavior Interactive has brought it back for a limited time.

Dead by Daylight 2v8 Mode Availability Date
Fans can get ready for another three weeks of 2v8 action, as the development team has announced that another session will be held from April 28 to May 19, 2026. In addition to the limited-time return of the special game mode, players can also expect a second revival, with another round of anime masterpiece crossover content Attack on Titan. The game and anime first collided in 2022, and a new batch of content will soon be back by popular demand, with special mission rewards that include a banner, badge, and charm.
Behavior Interactive has changed the rules for Dead in daylights 2v8 mode every time it has been introduced and is constantly trying to refine the game. This latest round should be no exception, as a couple of the game's popular Killers are set for another round of buffs and nerfs, implemented based on player feedback. The Deathslinger will have fewer penalties for reloading and missing shots, while The Oni will be a bit easier for Survivors to deal with, and will have a reduced runtime after felling a Survivor while engaged in Demon Mode. Additionally, Temple of Purgation and Ironworks of Misery have been added to the map rotation and modified to support 2v8 matches.
Additionally, this next round of 2-8 matches will incorporate changes to the Cage system, giving Dead in daylights Survivor players an advantage over the old model. Cage relocation time is reduced, and the development team encourages greater teamwork in rescue operations while trying to keep matches even. When a cage moves, it will be accompanied by a brief pause in the bleed timer, which should give the other survivors a bit more time to formulate their strategies on the fly.
