Currently unnamed Zoan fruits in one piece

Important takeaways

  • Zoan Devil Fruits in One Piece allow animal transformation and strength boosts.
  • Some Zoan Devil Fruits in the series lack clear distinctions or precise powers.
  • Different characters in One Piece use Zoan Devil Fruits in unique ways.

Zoan Devil Fruits are one of three basic varieties that appear in One Piece series. They appear to allow their user to transform into an animal or human/animal hybrid in addition to their default appearance. This tends to allow the user to gain a boost in physical strength and acquire potentially desirable traits from the animal associated with their Devil Fruit.

One Piece: All Known Ancient Zoan Devil Fruits

Ancient Zoan devil fruits are among the most unique in One Piece. Here's what we know about everyone revealed so far.

The vast majority of Devil Fruits that appear tend to have a name that identifies the exact form of their user. Unfortunately, not all Zoan Devil Fruits have received such an accolade, and there are currently a handful of users whose exact powers are unclear outside of what little is shown of them.

6 Onigumo's Devil Fruit

Allows Onigumo to transform into a spider

Onigumo One Piece

  • Debut: Chapter 420 (manga), episode 302 (anime)

Vice Admiral Onigumo was one of five sent to Buster Call on Enies Lobby. He strongly believes in Absolute Justice, and sabers seem to be his weapon of choice. His Devil Fruit allows him to transform into a spider, although the exact species, if there is even a specific one it is derived from, is unclear.

Onigumo tends to primarily use this ability to use six extra swords in battle, in addition to the pair in each of his actual arms. This is somewhat reminiscent of the sword styles of Hatchan and Hyouzou, who use their octopus-like physiology to carry extra swords. The extra appendages seem to extend from his hair, and this seems to be the extent to which he uses the abilities of his Devil Fruit. All other potential spider abilities, such as the use of a web and potential toxicity, seem to be of little interest to him, if indeed he is even capable of either.

5 Epoides devil fruit

Allows Epoida to transform into a caterpillar

Epoida has a caterpillar Devil Fruit in One Piece

  • Debut: Chapter 553 (manga), Episode 467 (anime)

Epoida is a subordinate captain of the Whitebeard Pirates, who historically sailed with the crew before starting his own. The exact extent of his strength is still unknown, but he is probably quite strong as one of Whitebeard's subordinate captains, some of whom prove to be evenly matched with Vice Admirals or collectively trashing the Pacifistas.

Notably, Epoida is the only identified Devil Fruit user among the subordinate captains. His unnamed Devil Fruit allows him to transform into a caterpillar, but it's unclear how exactly this affects his skills in battle (if indeed it does at all). His body seems to section like the pattern on his striped shirt in hybrid form. It is unknown if he can transform into a butterfly from his base form. But if he did, maybe it would be similar to Baron Tamago, who tends to change between three forms in a cycle from the egg to the chicken. It is likely that this aspect, like Epoida, will remain unexplored, due to his already limited relevance in the series.

4 Dalmatian devil fruit

Allows Dalmatians to transform into a dog

Dalmatian one piece

  • Debut: Chapter 553 (manga), episode 462 (anime)

Dalmatian is a vice admiral who, as his name suggests, has a devil fruit that seems to transform him into the iconic dog breed. According to The Kennel ClubDalmatians are “capable of great endurance and a fair speed.” Although the Dalmatian's exact physical abilities have yet to be measured in depth, these traits are likely necessary to become a Vice Admiral. Dalmatians are almost always shown in their hybrid form, with his canine and human features both manifesting in different parts of his face.

One Piece: 22 Most Powerful Zoan Devil Fruits (So Far)

Zoan Devil Fruits grant their users some amazing abilities. These are the strongest shown to date.

Instead of relying on a weapon, Dalmatian trained in Rokushki and physically enhanced his body to the point where he could even pierce Luffy's skin. In this regard, he resembles various CP0 members, who used Rokushki in combination with their Zoan forms. It's unclear how he compares to the likes of Rob Lucci physically, but as a Vice Admiral he likely has a lot of strength behind his title.

3 Stussy's Devil Fruit

Turns Stussy into a vampire bat (?)

Stussy licks her lips after sucking blood in her hybrid form in One Piece.

  • Debut: Chapter 860 (manga), episode 830 (anime)

Stussy is a clone of Miss Buckingham Stussy, a slightly older pirate who was once acquainted with Whitebeard and allegedly her lover. She was the product of MADS, an illegal research institute consisting of Vegapunk and other famous scientists. Acting as a mole for Vegapunk, Stussy became a masked agent of Cipher Pol 0 for over a decade without arousing suspicion.

During the Egghead Arc, she betrayed Lucci and Kaku when they tried to fight Vegapunk, growing wings and draining blood to knock out her fellow agents. This is likely the product of a Devil Fruit, although the exact logistics are unclear. It is notable that this Devil Fruit, despite not appearing awakened, can knock out users who have awakened their Devil Fruits, although it is unclear if this is proof of Stussy's power or the Devil Fruit itself. It can be either a standard or Mythical Zoan, due to the existence of actual vampire bats and the fictional nature of vampires. It has parallels in some respects to Patrick Redfield's Devil Fruit i One Piece: Unlimited World Redhowever, it has not been shown to have its exact capabilities, placing it squarely in the Mythical category.

2 Pomsky

Turns Pomsky into a sea otter

Pomsky in human and hybrid forms, the latter of which causes him to transform into a sea otter in One Piece

  • Debut: Chapter 1089 (manga)

This Vice Admiral debuted in the recently concluded Egghead Arc, and was one of nine involved in the event known as the Egghead Incident. Even compared to some other vice admirals, quite a bit is known about him aside from his somewhat fascinating Devil Fruit.

One Piece: 5 Strongest Merfolk in the Series, Ranked

Despite their relative rarity, merfolk in One Piece are not to be trifled with, and some of their numbers are impressively strong.

Pomsky's unnamed Devil Fruit allows him to transform into a sea otter. However, the inherent nature of Devil Fruits limits the Pomsky from one of the mammal's primary assets: the ability to effectively cross water. Although sea otters are capable of traversing land, many of their traits are fundamentally geared towards existing in the water. Nonetheless, Pomsky went all in on the aquatic theme, using a maul with a seashell-shaped hammer head as his primary weapon.

1 The five elders

A chimera of mythic zoans

five elder gorosei not devil fruit user a piece

  • Debut Chapter 233 (manga), Episode 151 (anime)

These half-mortal oligarchs are the public faces of Imu, the true ruler of the world. Each of them is responsible for a specific position, which they are explained as the “Warrior God”, such as justice, economy or agriculture. Even when one of their number is killed and replaced, there are still many things fans don't know about these individuals, including the names of their alleged Devil Fruits. Each appears to be a somewhat esoteric Mythical Zoan, the rarest variety of Devil Fruit.

The respective forms are an Itsumade (Marcus Mars); a monstrous bird, a Fengxi (Topman Warcury); a demonic boar, a Bakotsu (Ethanbaron V. Nusjuro); a skeleton horse, a Sandworm (Shepherd Ju Peter); a giant worm that can devour everything, and a Gyuki (Jaygarcia Saturnus); a bizarre bull-spider hybrid. Each of them also appears to be “awakened”. With Saturn's execution, it is unclear what type of Devil Fruit the newest Elder, Figarland Garling, has, or if he even has one at all.
