This list contains spoilers!
A common topic that will often be discussed among A bit Fanbase is which characters deserve to have more screen time, but what has not been talked about so much are the individuals who may have had a little too much. Although it is always a joy to see all the strange and wonderful characters that Oda puts into the story, there are still some who for some reason felt as if they were exceeding their welcome.
Whether it is because they are not so relevant to the broader story, or simply because they are too annoying to their own good, some characters should simply not have received as much attention as they received, especially since there are so many other characters that could have taken the limelight instead. In retrospect, this is A bit Characters that best fit this description and who would probably have benefited from showing up in the story a little less than they have done.
Wapol
The always-hungry tyrant just seems to continue to emerge from nowhere
- First appearance: Section 79
Wapol was a perfectly serviceable villain for the Drum Island arch, but given that he is a massive coward who could barely fight for himself, it seemed as if he would be long away after that story arc had wrapped for good. Much to the surprise of almost everyone, Wapol has emerged several times since then throughout the story and even became a fairly significant player on the world scene after the events in Reverie.
While most characters have grown up and matured a lot since the Timeskipet, Wapol seems as egotist and selfish as ever, and of course he always looks for me to literally put everything he sets on. He is just not so much of a fun character to follow, and while a quick como here and there could have done for some pretty fun moments, it seems that Oda gives Wapol much more screen time than someone who really asked for.
Foxy
Foxy and his Tras-tag crew get a whole bow based around them
- First appearance: Section 207
The Long Ring Long Land Arc is a pretty bizarre part of the story. After reaching the island, the straw hats are quickly invited to a Davy -back game game by a strange pirate captain named Foxy. While he may talk a big game about how powerful he is, he is far from many of the serious villains that Luffy and the gang had already taken on that point in the story, such as Arlong and Crocodile, for example.
Because of this, he is honestly not very threatening as an opponent, so to base an entire bow around him as the great antagonist forces fans to cope with him for a long time. It is not to say that the bow as a whole is bad, as there are some very fun and memorable moments, especially when it comes to Zoro and Sanji's arguments, but Foxy, the man in the middle of everything, gets far too much attention, given how insignificant he is.
Bellamy
Bellamy should have learned his lesson after being a shot for the first time
- First appearance: Section 146
It is not long after Bellamy formally introduces Jaya that he quickly taken down with a single punch from Luffy. Admittedly, the snobbish captain had this to come, considering how much he drove his mouth, and while it was satisfying to see him cut down in size, it did not seem as if fans were so eager to see Bellamy again in the future.
That is why it felt a bit random when he surprisingly pops up in dress pink, but this time, as a subordinate his role model, doflamingo. He takes up a lot of focus during Luffy's struggle with doflamingo, where he is again defeated with a single punch and even betrayed by his new master. Given that dress pink was already extremely long, many fans simply wanted to come to the epic duel that had been built up in hundreds of episodes and chapters, so it really would not have been so bad if Bellamy was removed from this part of the story completely.
Yamato
Yamato's inclusion in Wano always felt a bit odd
- First appearance: Section 972
At about halfway in the Wano Story arch, it is revealed that the violent Yonko called Kaido has a child named Yamato. Before this reveals, there had been no indications that Yamato even existed, and while the character has gathered a fairly large fan base, many still wonder why they were included, given that they do not exactly add a lot to the bow, even though they are directly related to the main villain.
In a nutshell, Yamato was treated terribly by Kaido when they were still young, but because they were inspired by Oden's courage, they were devoted to help Luffy take down the violent tyrant in Wano once and for all. There are a lot of chapters and sections that largely centers around Yamato and their feelings towards Kaido, along with their possible battle with him, but given that they do not stop joining the straw hats in the end, they will ultimately still come over as a fairly random supplement that ends up extending an already a little bloated story.
Momonosuke
Momo is not exactly the most exciting character to follow
- First appearance: Section 611
Given that he would be the next shogun from Wano, it makes sense why Momonosuke would earn a decent amount of screen time. The truth is that since he is still only a child who often spends his time either crying or looking at Nami and Robin, he is not exactly as interesting or wiped out as a character, which is why his scenes should probably have been cut down a little more, especially when the gang comes to Wano.
There are many times in the Wano arch where the story will suddenly switch to Momonosuke and his training, but since he is surrounded by other characters who are all absurdly powerful, including the straw hats, can see a young boy who beats around a wooden branch in ports in the stimulus who is all very powerful. Admittedly, he eventually becomes much more important when he turns into an adult, but for a good part of the story, Momonosuke felt more of an annoying brat that fans just couldn't come from.
Rebecca
ODA went beyond to try to make Rebecca relevant and memorable
- First appearance: Section 633
It's hard to find many A bit Fans who talk about Rebecca as much as many of the other female characters in the series, such as Vivi or Nami. The main reason for this is simply because, although she is a quite less character in terms of the meaning of history, she has a lot of screen time dedicated to her throughout the dress arch which feels quite unjust.
While she has a fairly emotional relationship with her father, Kyros, dress pink is already full of new characters, and Rebecca is not anywhere as convincing or interesting as many of the other new faces, such as Bartolomeo or the returning Sabo. While many fans were over the moon to see Vivi return to The Reverie, the same thing could not be exactly said to Rebecca, who has quickly become more of a reflection because of how overexposed she was in dress pink.
Caribu
Caribou will always find a way to float the limelight
- First appearance: Section 519
It is honestly remarkable how Caribou, a minor antagonist who first appeared on Sabaody, has appeared with a few stories to cause more chaos. It does not matter if the straw hats take on a yonko in the country of Wano, or if the BlackBeard pirates do devastation all over the country, Caribou will always be there to make himself known, to the point where it almost feels like ODA uses him as a comfortable Deus ex machina to help the characters when they need it most.
Despite this, the man himself is a rather horrible person and is more than happy to tear down someone if it gives him more infamous and power, which he has done several times. At least it makes sense that he can move so easily, given that he has an odd devil fruit that allows him to be turned into sludge, but it has come to the point where many fans are tired of seeing his creepy face, but in all honest it does not seem as if his performances will slow down soon.
