Since the studio was founded over three decades ago, CD Projekt Red has created two massive franchises in The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077.

While both franchises predate their respective adaptations, there's no doubt that the studio's work is largely responsible for their contemporary popularity. Now, with Cyberpunk 2 and The Witcher 4 in active development, CDPR is trying to achieve a similar feat with a third franchise.

We heard about Project Hadar years ago, but know next to nothing about the project. However, a new job posting (spotted by GamesRadar) has shed some light on what kind of projects CDPR is working on.

Project Hadar is not just a side project

“In this position, along with the rest of the team, you will help drive the next, immersive game in the world of Hadar, creating an emotional experience that will stay with players,” the listing for Engineering Director reads.

While it doesn't give much away, we can extrapolate from that description that Hadar isn't a side project that CD Projekt Red is pushing to beef up its catalog between Witcher and Cyberpunk releases, but rather another major franchise in the works at the studio.

It's true that job adverts generally don't provide any specifics, but they do try to give applicants an idea of ​​the type of work they'll be doing in the role, so usually, if a project is of a smaller scale than what the employer is known for, the listing will note that.

We're just reading tea leaves here, but…

Apart from Hadar being a major project for CDPR, we know very little about it. The project was in the creative concept phase a couple of years ago and is now in early pre-production.

CD Projekt Red names all its projects after stars – Cyberpunk 2077 was known as Project Orion – so the project title doesn't give anything away. The studio already has a fantasy and sci-fi series, so maybe Hadar could be a secret third thing?

Either way, with The Witcher 4 in full production and Cyberpunk 2 likely to follow after, we may not see more of Project Hadar for some time to come.
