Madara Uchiha was known to be one of the strongest ninja in the world Naruto. As the ghost of the Uchiha, Madara's strength was almost unmatched, and in the Fourth Great Ninja War he reached such unprecedented heights that even Hagoromo Otsutsuki, the Sage of Six Paths, was wary of him. Unfortunately, Madara was discarded in the most underwhelming way after being used as a vessel for the reincarnation of Kaguya Otsutsuki. While this plot point left a sour taste in fans' mouths, Mikio Ikemoto has lined up the perfect successor to Madara in Boruto series in the form of Jura.
Introduced officially with name i Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 5 December 20, 2023 Jura is a force of nature and a direct incarnation of the Ten Tails themselves. With growing intelligence as well as emotional understanding, Jura is portrayed by Mikio Ikemoto and Masashi Kishimoto as the very own Madara Uchiha of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex.
Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Lines Up Jura as Madara's true successor in power
When it comes to power, Madara Uchiha was easily one of the strongest characters in the Naruto world. Even before he awakened his Rinnegan, Madara was a force to be reckoned with. He was the reincarnation of Indra Otsutsuki and as such had extremely strong chakra. What really made him special was the incredible amount of training he did with his brother Izuna. Madara was the first to awaken the Mangekyo Sharingan, and with its powers, clashed with the Senju on various occasions. This was officially confirmed to us in Naruto chapter 386, which was officially released on February 11, 2008, in Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #9.
“He was Senju 'Wood Release' Hashirama. He was the man who stood at the top of the Ninja World, and the man I respected the most.” — Madara Uchiha explains his Hashirama rivalry, Naruto Chapter #398
Eventually, Madara awakened the Rinnegan moments before his death, and this paved the way for his eventual reincarnation. In Naruto Chapter 559, Madara Uchiha officially returned through Edo Tensei, and in Chapter 657, Madara was revived by none other than Obito Uchiha using the Rinne Tensei Jutsu. From this point on, he reached soaring levels of strength as he eventually ended up becoming the Ten-Tails Jinchuriki in Naruto Chapter 663, officially released on February 24, 2014. Even Hagoromo feared that he was approaching his full strength. Madara's powers were such that Naruto and Sasuke had to join forces at the time, a true testament to his abilities.
“The current Madara is the perfect example. He has become just like my mother. Now Indras is no longer reincarnated, he has also gained the ten tails and is closing in on me. And now he is trying to get even my mother, Kaguya's power.” — Hagoromo explains Madara's growing power
IN Boruto: Two Blue Vortexthe perfect successor to Madara Uchiha lies in the form of Jura. Known to be an incarnation of the Ten Tails themselves, Jura is an absolute monster, the likes of which rank above even the Otsutsuki of the world. The biggest similarity between Jura and Madara is the immense presence they carry. Like Madara, Jura's character design exudes immense fear and authority, but more than that, both seem to have fairly simple goals. While Madara wanted world peace fundamentally, Jura simply wants to understand his existence and gain more knowledge to further develop as a Shinju. This gives them both an interesting and similar target. More than that, Jura also commands immense respect from his enemies, which was also the case with Madara Uchiha, which was clearly seen in the Fourth Great Ninja War, especially when he took on the shinobi alliance in Naruto Chapter 560.
“This world is curious. The more knowledge I acquire, the more questions arise!” — Jura shows that he only cares about knowledge, Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter #19
Why Jura has the potential to surpass both pain and madara
Above all, Jura is the perfect Madara successor due to his immense strength. While Madara himself was strong and certainly powerful enough to rival Otsutsuki, Jura is on a whole other level. His powers are such that it is said to be virtually impossible to defeat him. Even the strongest Otsutsuki we've seen in Boruto series, that is Ishiki Otsutsuki, pales in comparison to Jura based on what has been revealed in the Boruto series so far.
The most critical thing is not to provoke Jura. Understand this, if we provoke him we have no chance against him. No. — Kashin Koji explains Jura's power to Shikamaru
IN Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter #24, released on July 17, 2025, in the V-Jump September Issue, even Kawaki, who had access to the vast majority of Isshiki's powers, could not defeat Jura. Boruto Uzumaki, with all his unique abilities, didn't stand a chance against him either, despite being powerful enough to rival any Otsutsuki. That, combined with the immense aura that Jura commands, makes him the perfect successor to Madara Uchiha i Boruto: Two Blue Vortex.
Jura is officially set to get a new power-up in two blue vortices
Although Jura is already incredibly powerful, Boruto: Two Blue Vortex officially sets up a major upgrade for him in terms of strength. IN Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Officially released on June 18, 2026, in V-Jump Issue #8, Chapter 35 foreshadowed the death of Mikio Ikemoto and Masashi Kishimoto Hidari. At the same time, Jura's growing bond with Hidari was highlighted, and with the loss of his closest friend and accomplice, Jura is likely to suffer tremendous shock and pain.
Hidari: You could have collected their Thorn Soul Bulb if you wanted to, so why didn't you? Or rather, why did you take me back? 00:42
Jura: Good question. I never thought about the question, but right now, trying to imagine a world without you in it, I experienced feelings of sadness.
— Foreshadowing of Jura's power from Hidari's death, Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter #35
This shock comes with an upgrade in terms of strength, and this has also been lined up in the story on several occasions, such as when Inojin's death led to the awakening of Himawari's Kurama powers in Boruto: TBV Chapter #10, and Yodo's death led to the awakening of Sarada's Mangekyo Sharingan i Boruto: TBV Chapter #20. Jura is tipped to strengthen further, and if nothing else, give us the most terrifying and awesome antagonist in the series since Madara Uchiha, which is something we're all eagerly waiting to see. For now, Mikio Ikemoto and Masashi Ishimoto are working on Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter #36, which will be officially released on July 20, 2026. In this new chapter, Hidari will focus on a lot, all of which will likely lead to the death of the second strongest Shinju, as well as the return of Sasuke Uchiha and the massive rise in power of Jura at the same time.
