Important takeaways
- Bloodborne is officially undergoing maintenance on December 3rd, the same date as a rumored PlayStation event.
- PlayStation fans believe the date (which also happens to be the platform's 30th anniversary) was hidden in a new ad that came out earlier this week.
- Bloodborne fans are now crossing their fingers that this could be the remaster or 60fps update they've been longing for, although we won't know for sure until the day comes.
PlayStation fans have been in a bit of a frenzy for the past few weeks, ever since a new ad was uploaded to the platform's official YouTube channel. In this ad, a billboard can be seen very briefly showing the date December 3rd, which just happens to be the 30th anniversary of the PlayStation as a whole. Many fans have taken this as a tease for some kind of event or PlayStation Showcase taking place next month.
Insiders have questioned whether an event could happen, pointing to things like The Game Awards being deeper into December this year and reliable characters like billbil-kun claiming that things are “being prepared” behind the scenes. There is a lot of uncertainty swirling around at the moment, but one thing that is certain is that Bloodborne will go down for maintenance on the exact same day.
Bloodborne will undergo maintenance on the rumored date of the PlayStation Showcase
It was recently discovered by Bloodborne fans (and shared by Twitter account FromSoftUpdates) that the game's servers will be undergoing maintenance on December 3rd. It's worth pointing out that FromSoftware games randomly undergoing maintenance isn't unusual, but to line up perfectly on the same day that the PlayStation can be teased is almost too much of a coincidence.

Trust me, if you like Bloodborne, you'll love this cult classic PS1 gem.
Many people are already taking this as proof that we may finally get our remaster or remake announcement during this mysterious event, but we have absolutely no idea if this is the case. It's also possible that this could be FromSoftware preparing for some kind of PS5 Pro enhancement, and it could also be absolutely nothing and make Bloodborne fans want to curl up in the corner of a room and cry.
Whatever this mysterious maintenance ends up being, I'm sure we're all crossing our fingers that Bloodborne fans will finally get some good news for once. Horizon Zero Dawn's one-two punch is getting a remaster and rumors of a Dark Souls 3 remaster in the works may have cracked some fans beyond help. Right now we just need to be calm and pray.
Bloodborne is a PlayStation 4 exclusive game developed by Dark Souls and Elden Ring creator FromSoftware, and launched in 2015. A critically acclaimed action role-playing game, you must travel through the city of Yharnam in search of a cure for a mysterious disease.
