Glow, glow, glow. Merry Christmas.
The game has been so well received and has retained a large portion of the player base that players are demanding the return of lobbies that pair you with the same player all night long.
Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6 Longs For Old-School Lobbies
Over on the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 subreddit, players have reminisced about old-school CoD lobbies. No, not the ones where there was horrendous racist and homophobic abuse, but the ones where you would be paired against the same opponent match after match, forming “friendships and rivalries”.
Skill-based matchmaking has all but ended this dream, and a thread on Reddit has received over 6,000 upvotes and nearly 500 comments, with players lamenting the good old days.
Forward_Geologist_67 was one of the first to comment, saying: “Everyone talks about old CoD lobbies as war stories where you just got bullied and called slurs all day, but connecting with new people and having a good time was just as much there. Lots of people have made long-lasting friendships just by playing Call of Duty and talking into a microphone.”
In the thread, Viciouspit also shared a story about Black Ops 6 that gave them a taste of how good things could be, “Man we got matched against the same people three times in a row tonight on SND. First time we won 6 -4, second won they 6-5 (they came up 4-0 to start the third time when they saw it was us again, we were looking forward to a best of 3. But it did).I think of the old days when playing same group until one decided to quit.”
Lots of people have made long lasting friendships just by playing Call of Duty and talking into a microphone.
While many were quick to share their disappointment at the lack of these lobbies, some players were happy just to share wholesome stories about their past.
Theweekendwife said, “During Black Ops 2 clan wars my husband and I met and played with two guys from Canada. We added them and played with them for almost two years. In 2016 we drove to Canada and met them. Since then, we have been flying and met each other 5 times and had a long distance friendship ever since.”
There were plenty of stories of players talking about long-lasting friendships, but Defiant_Activity_864's was a little different. “When I was younger, I was afraid that the CERN Hadron Collider would make a black hole. So I jumped on CoD 4 just to chat with people and distract myself. A lot of adults let me know that the black hole thing wasn't going to happen do it. happen. You can't do it anymore,” they said.
You are right; you can't do it anymore. Activision, please make it happen.
