Biggest FPS game with big expansions announced

The season of reveals was filled with amazing surprises, and some of the biggest names in the FPS world received a wave of announcements that will ensure to keep the content train flowing long after launch. Many of these DLC packs and updates were already teased or suspected to be on the way, but others came out of nowhere, rekindling the fanbase and ushering in a whole new level of hype that may well match the heights of the actual launch.

The best part is that there are several very different types of games all getting some love at once, from open world survival experiences to more linear boomer shooters. So it doesn't matter what kind of FPS fan you are, the next few months promise to bring plenty of action, fun and most importantly, enough bullets to take down an entire army.

STALKER 2: Cost of Hope

Deep in the heart of the zone

STALKER 2's first major expansion, Cost of Hopelooks to add a sizable chunk of content to an already expansive game, sending you straight to the Chornobyl reactor site and building on the existing story rather than overriding it. A darker, more sinister journey into the depths, you'll come face-to-face with new horrors you've never seen before, but thankfully some new tools will be added to your arsenal as well to help combat the threats underground.

It seems like a lot of emphasis is placed on your role in the world and how your choices affect certain factions and the outcome of every single person encountered. The Zone therefore becomes a living, breathing environment shaped by gray decisions, and I, for one, am just excited to experience more of the atmosphere and excitement that the series has become so well known for.

DOOM: The Dark Ages | Revelations

Doom Guy isn't done yet

As if The Dark Ages if that wasn't enough torment, it seems we will once again step into the Slayer's shoes and his endless battle against the forces of Hell. This time we'll dive right into the inner psyche of the Slayer, facing more terrifying enemies and mysteries that, as always, can only be cleared with a hefty set of weapons and an iron will.

Alongside new levels and demons, we will be treated to a brand new weapon in the form of a Chain Spear, which promises to deliver a rewarding and satisfying combat experience for even the most seasoned players. As a big boomer shooter fan, I can't wait for more DOWNFALLand if it's as good as the developers say it is, then we could have a contender for best DLC of the year.

DayZ Badlands

The infected spread far and wide

Details:

• Brand new, larger map to explore

• Region-specific items and weapons

• Expected by the end of 2026

DayZ may have been around for over a decade, but that hasn't stopped it from receiving new updates and continuing to dominate the shooting world. Badlands brings with it a completely different biome with vast stretches of desert and sand replacing the traditional forests, and as the biggest official yet it looks to be an incredibly unique one to play on for players of all stripes.

There's a lot of attention to detail when it comes to the structures and environments, from the crumbling cities to the foliage that surrounds them, and these factors together should make it one of the more immersive and intense experiences the game has to offer. I've been a fan of DayZ since the early days, and I'm always looking for reasons to jump back in, so when Badlands fallsI will explore the wasteland with thousands of other hungry survivors.

Abiotic factor – Entropic break

Not exactly the perfect island getaway

• Oceanic islands and further secrets beneath the surface

• Additional story details, including content

• Expected in the last months of 2026

Abiotic factor has quickly risen to the top of the survival space, with so much to offer in a single package that it sometimes feels like you're playing a completely different game every session. Now with Entropic break along the way, the width only widens, with a sunny, aquatic location that holds countless new anomalies for you to discover.

Not only are there sandy islands and stunning beaches to explore, but beneath the surface there are plenty of additional areas to discover that will no doubt bring more questions than answers. If you loved the base game, this first story DLC should quench your thirst for more quirky survival action in ways you never knew you needed.

The Outer Worlds 2/MUS: PI

Both The Outer Worlds 2 and MUS: PI for rent has confirmed plans for post-launch support in the form of DLC story packs. In the case of The Outer Worlds 2we'll be getting two separate expansions at a later date, and if they follow the blueprint of the first game's DLC content, then we should have some pretty fun additional missions.

For MOUSEwe have even less to go on, with the only details being a new adventure for Jack Pepper and the fact that the content is labeled “Story DLC #1,” which could mean there's more to come. My expectations are an update to the base game with some arcade-like content, and potentially a prequel story that goes into Pepper's past, but we'll see where the trail of cheese leads us next.
