Throughout the series, the mountain began as a man but ended as a monster after being injured by Oberyn Martell. By undergoing a transformation that turned him into a decaying shell that could no longer feel pain or speaking, he was an unstoppable undead creature.

The dog's presence seemed to be to keep his brother in control every now and then, but when the situation became more difficult in King's Landing, he abandoned his service and fled with Arya Stark. The dog has had many seizures throughout the series, which proves that his skill with a sword is an average of the rest.
