Awakening reveals major playoff changes coming soon

Funcom, the developer of Survival MMO Dune: AwakeningHas detailed a number of upcoming changes to the game's playoffs at high -level designed to address the player's complaint and diversify the experience. Dune: Awakening Launched early in June 2025 and impressed players with their free form Desert game with elements of competitive PVP.

Dune: Awakening Has set new records for its developer Funcom, become the studio's fastest sold title and designed over a million players. The game itself was already much awaited thanks to its combination of the iconic Dune Setting with tuned survival MMO games that drew veterans aware of Funcom's second work with titles such as Conanian. Even now, tens of thousands of players are building and competing in the virtual sand in Arrakis to establish dominance over the most important planet in the universe.

DUNE: AWAKENING'S ENDGAME IS THE ULTIMATE EVENSE PLACE FOR its Lifetime

One of Dune: Awakening's most controversial features is to get a great rework, and it can ultimately help the game's life.

Despite the strong start, however, the game has not been free from complaints, and it seems that Funcom has been attentive. The creative director Joel Bylos has responded to concerns about Dune: Awakening PVP and Endgame experience in a Steam blog post that describes planned changes in both PVP (Player versus plays) and the overall playoff experience. According to Bylos Post, Funcom plans to add a number of PVE (Player-Versus environment) to Dune: Awakening Endgame, so “not to force PVE players to interact with a PVP system that they may have no interest in.” Currently PVP in the game's deep desert is the most important pillar in Dune: AwakeningHigh -level games, as it is the only way to get the rare and most valuable resources and implements.

DUNE: AWAKENING ENDGAME to switch towards Pve in great ways

Bylos said that while Funcom's ideal for Dune: Awakening Deep Desert was for players to merge and form Guilder to overcome their challenges collectively, the reality is that players have been “cut out” by the playoffs by the “extremely competitive nature” in the current deep desert. To mitigate this, parts of the deep desert will be flagged as “partial warfare (PVE)” areas where players can explore test stations and harvest level 6 resources without unwanted PVP. These sections will be balanced around group and guild games, so they will still be “grindy” for solo players. At the same time, the largest spice fields and other deep parts of the deep desert will have open “War of Assassins (PVP)” status for players enjoying high risk dynamics, high reward.

Funcom will also make further changes to PVP to handle outstanding complaints, especially the current dominance of flying ornitopters. While a previous one Dune: Awakening Update removed Ramming damage from vehicle to NERF The specific strategy, other changes will also reduce the efficiency of rocket-equipped ornitopters as well. Bylos said that PVP games should revolve around “combined arms”, which means that even if thopters are important, they should not be the dominant power of actual battles.

Funcom seems to listen to the player's complaint about the condition in Dune: Awakening playoffs. With luck, these changes will deal with the concerns.
