Takahiko Abiru handled both character design and animation direction, achieving surprising results. This is not a flashy, colorful shonen anime, but rather a series that tries to make an impact in a different way.
To create a realistic story, Nippon Sangoku try to portray the more human side of a Japan different from today's. Cigarettes, for example, are so common in anime that there is a warning at the beginning advising minors not to smoke. Kevin Penkin's music also stands out, adding drama to every scene. Nippon Sangoku is a must watch anime by all means.
