All the new 10/10 masterpieces were released in June 2026

Compared to the previous month Forza Horizon 6, 007 First lightand Lego BatmanJune 2026's triple-A lineup is somewhat lacking. So far, the biggest releases of the month have been ports; for example, Rise of the Tomb Raider and Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition launched on Switch 2, while Where winds meet made its Xbox Series debut. Nothing wrong with that, of course, since these bona fide masterpieces are now in the hands of a whole new player base, but they're not exactly the most exciting new releases.

While things will pick up in the second half of the month with The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales, UFC 6, Delta Rune: Chapter 5and Star Foxthe first two weeks still managed to produce great games that could and should be remembered as some of the very best of the year. So far, June has given us a monster shooter, a train survival sim, and an exciting Early Access RPG.

Assuming it works well enough, I plan to update this article at the end of June to cover the second half of the month. Will we get any other masterpieces?

Voidling bound

The best new game of June 2026 (so far)

In theory, merging multiple masterpieces should give a guaranteed 10/10, but reality rarely works that way. Whenever a developer goes this route, the game tends to feel like a collection of ideas that mostly serve to remind players that they could be spending their time on something better. Fusing Monster Rancher, Sporeand Risk of rain 2 to create the ultimate monster-taming shooter, Voidling bound somehow brings everything together to create an experience that is simultaneously more than the sum of its parts while not necessarily better than all of its inspirations (mainly Risk of rain 2).

All the big upcoming PS5 games for 2026 and beyond

From JRPGs to platforming, racing and open-world titles, here are all the big new PS5 games coming in 2026 and beyond.

Despite very clearly following in the footsteps of the giants, Voidling boundIts strongest asset is its singularity – Simply put, no other Steam game offers this exact combination. With 9 voidlings to choose from right now, you take to the battlefields to shoot, slash and jump your way across the map, smashing all sorts of enemies and bosses along the way. When you're not doing that, you get to play mad scientist as you perform gene splicing to breed an impressive array of subspecies with unique looks and move sets. You get to level up your creatures while unlocking new skills. The game loop is addictive as hell, and Voidling bound is a steal at $24.99 (or $18.74 on its current Steam sale).

Potential to be a 10/10: Gothic 1 Remake

A little more polish and we have an RPG masterpiece

A Gothic games that are at least not polarizing are no Gothic games at all. Alkimia's remake needed to be nothing short of amazing to live up to the memory of the original, which stands as one of the most forward-thinking and ambitious RPGs of the early 2000s. Gameplay, the developer managed to retain the charm, atmosphere and challenge of its ancestor; however, the game launched in a frustrating state that contained quite a few bugs and errors. Not outright unplayable, but annoying enough to dampen the overall experience.

On June 12, Alkimia released Patch 1.0.1, which fixed a lot of the base game's issues, though not all. At this point, Gothic is in a passable enough state to warrant a recommendation for fans of the original who were on the fence. Newcomers looking for an immersive RPG that makes them a nobody stuck in a murderous society (and world) fueled by tense factional relations won't find anything better than Gothic year 2026. Alkimia deserves endless praise for successfully preserving the core of the classic while modernizing the overall experience and vastly improving the combat.

Piranha Bytes may be gone, but the developer's memory lives on in 2026.

Unrailed 2: Back on Track

The best new co-op game of June 2026

Railless! execute a simple concept flawlessly: clear the track so a train doesn't derail. For the sequel, Indoor Astronaut was in a tricky spot, as it needed to expand on the idea without overcomplicating things and diminishing the simple appeal of the first game. Well, it's safe to say that Unrailed 2: Back on Track succeeded. Wisely, the sequel mostly kept the core gameplay of “clear track for the ever-moving train” intact; again, players must scavenge, chop and build to keep the cost clear as long as possible. If you liked the simple beauty of the original, Railless 2 will continue the good times.

Upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 games for 2026 and beyond

Splatoon, Metal Gear, and Elden Ring are just a few franchises set to release Switch 2 games in 2026.

The development of the sequel comes mainly in the activities around the game loop. To switch from a roguelike to a roguelite, Railless 2 allows you to upgrade and customize trains with permanent unlocks, allowing for a fairly wide range of configurations. You can now create your own terrains and share them with the community. You can even take on optional boss fights. There's even an online leaderboard for an 8-player VS mode, further enhancing the community aspect. Railless 2 is a prime example of a near-perfect sequel.

Potential to be a 10/10: Fatekeeper (Early Access)

Sneak Preview of June 2028's 10/10 Masterpiece (month completely made up by me)

Full disclosure, the current version of the Painter of destiny certainly isn't a 10/10, but that's the whole point of early access. Players maintain these projects in the hope that they could eventually realize their potential and become the game they dreamed of when they first saw the listing. Painter of destiny is a true early access release, and it's closer to a proof of concept than a near-complete offering that could use some fine-tuning. Currently, you get a couple of hours of gameplay showcasing Paraglacial's vision: A new version of Dark Messiah of power and magic.

Yes, the 2-3 hours available showcases a first-person combat system that combines swords and spells while rewarding creativity, similar to Arkane's underrated classic, albeit with slower gameplay. Heck, action RPGs even share similarities with Skyrim. While I'd usually be wary of recommending early access games with this little content, Painter of destiny have a few things going on. First, it's only $9.99 and $7.99 on sale. Second, its publisher is THQ Nordic, which at least suggests that the project has solid backing and, hopefully, will actually leave early access at some point.

Special Mention: Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth (Switch 2 and Xbox series)

The largest port in June 2026

Well, I had to include a port, given that they make up so much of June's game offerings. If you own a Switch 2 or an Xbox series, Final Fantasy 7 Rebooth could be the biggest game of the month for you, and I mean that both figuratively and literally. Set in a massive open world filled with optional content, Square Enix's masterpiece is designed to keep players engaged for a long, long time. With Final Fantasy 7 Revelation confirmed for 2027, this port should help millions of players get ready for the final chapter of the trilogy, and the upcoming release will debut simultaneously on all systems.
