In Solarpunk, the Research Table is a placeable structure where players can unlock new recipes in the game by researching them. The Research Table can be upgraded nine times, with each tier unlocking a new batch of recipes that players can research.

In Solarpunk, Solar Panels are one of the very first sources of energy players can research and unlock. Here’s how they work.

Research Table (Tier 1)

Rain Collector

Structure that collects rainwater when placed outdoors. Used as a pure water source.

Well

  • Stone x3
  • Wood x2
  • Stick x2

Structure that provides water for crops. Cannot be drunk directly.

Chest

Storage device with 12 slots.

Beehive

Structure that collects Beeswax from Bees. Works automatically.

Bed

  • Wood x2
  • Stick x2
  • Cloth x1

Bed that you can sleep on. Can be used to turn night into day instantly.

Unlock Tier 2

  • Build-Hammer x1
  • Beeswax x1

Research Table Tier 2

Research Table Tier 1 is automatically unlocked when you first build a Research Table as part of Solarpunk’s tutorial. To do this, you’ll need to complete the following steps:

  1. Make an Axe.
  2. Cut down trees until you get Wood x8.
  3. Collect Cotton x1.
  4. Build a Crafting Table.
  5. Turn the Cotton x1 into Cloth x1 at the Crafting Table.
  6. Build a Research Table at the Crafting Table and place it on the ground.

Upon interacting with the Research Table, you’ll see all available recipes for Tier 1.

Unlocks a Fishing Rod tool that allows you to fish out resources from bodies of water. Does not require reeling.

You can sell this to the Merchant using the Postbox to get 500 tickets, which can be used to purchase items at the Vending Machine. This item can only be researched after you unlock Research Table Tier 8.
