Meanwhile, the land of Elbaf is deeply connected to the sun god Nika, which became clear to fans in the Egghead Arc of One Piece. Oda fulfilled all expectations in One Piece chapter 1136, when he revealed some deep knowledge about the world of One Piece pertaining to the sun god Nika. Now it has been officially confirmed that there were two Nikas before Luffy.

Luffy's evolution into the Sun God Nika was something fans were shocked to see in the story. After all, no fan had expected Luffy to be a god. However, the Wano Country arc of the series went on to reveal amazing bits about Luffy's Devil Fruit, and it turned out to be a Devil Fruit with a divine power. Luffy essentially ate the Nika fruit as a child, but its true powers were hidden due to the fruit not being awakened. In the battle against Kaido, Luffy finally managed to reach the next level, especially after he died in battle, and this led to the awakening of his fruit. It was here that the five elders stepped in and revealed a wealth of knowledge about the sun god Nika, who they openly claimed to be a warrior of liberation and a god with a smile on his face who brings happiness to the oppressed and frees them from their chains. With a body made of rubber and an infectious smile, Nika has the most ridiculous power to ever exist, and that's exactly what Luffy has right now.

To make things more interesting, it was also revealed to fans that the Nika fruit specifically chose Luffy and this is due to the fact that all Zoan fruits have a will of their own. The fruit itself eluded the World Government for 800 years and it eventually found its way to someone it deemed worthy of its user – Luffy.

With the power of the Nika fruit, Luffy was able to match Kaido and eventually defeat him in battle. Undoubtedly, Luffy is a worthy successor to Joy Boy and he certainly lives up to all expectations, especially now that the final war with One Piece is approaching.

The multi-user Nika fruit shouldn't surprise fans. After all, fans already know about the Devil Fruit reincarnation cycle at this point in the story. Like all other Devil Fruits, the Nika fruit has had multiple users and has been passed down through generations. Before Luffy, this Devil Fruit likely had no other user for 100s of years, and it has been explicitly stated by the elders that the Nika Fruit has not been awakened for 800 years. This clearly tells fans that the fruit was last awakened during the Void Century and the one who awakened it was its last user, Joy Boy.

As Vegapunk explained in the Egghead Arc of One Piece, Joy Boy was a particularly interesting person who existed in the Void Century and was born in the Ancient Kingdom. Like Luffy, he had the power to strengthen and contract himself, and he took an all-white transformation that turned him into the Sun God Nika. His powers were absolutely immense. According to Vegapunk, he was actually so powerful that Imu and the other 19 kings had to band together to take him down, and at the end of a prolonged battle against the Ancient Kingdom, they finally succeeded.

While Joy Boy was, for the longest time, considered the first Nika, things have changed quite a bit now. As clarified, Joy Boy is not actually the first Nika. There was a Nika long before Joy Boy and he was fighting some monstrously powerful force strong enough to destroy the world. According to the Elbaphic scripture Harley, it is said that the world of One Piece has already been destroyed twice. Of course, there was a destruction after the Void Century, but long before that, probably a few centuries ago, the world underwent several changes and was on the verge of destruction. This disaster was caused or averted by the sun god Nika, which Oda gave fans a glimpse of One Piece chapter 1136.

According to the giants, it is unknown whether Nika is the god of destruction or the god of liberation. All they know is that Nika's name comes up every time the world is destroyed, which is what confuses Elbaf's masses. It's unclear who the original Nika fought in battle, or if his existence is simply something created by slaves to sense some sort of deity above the sky, but hopefully fans will find out more information about this divine being soon enough, especially since the story now heads to the meaty parts of Elbaf, where all attention will likely be on Loki and the Holy Knights, along with the members of the Straw Hat Pirates who are currently openly exploring the giants country. All fans have to do is sit back patiently and wait for Oda to illustrate these amazing mysteries.
