Fantastic Neo Dimension introduces his character to you somewhat slowly, especially when it comes to new members of the party. While Leo and China are together almost immediately, it takes a while for you to finally recruit Cheryl, and then she's gone before you know it.

Fantasian Neo Dimension challenged me more than any Final Fantasy game has in years
Fantasian Neo Dimension looks set to be a challenge, especially for those of us who are brand new to it.
And while Cheryl may initially feel like she's meant to be something of a frail character with powerful magic, she's actually a powerhouse all her own, capable of taking down bundles of enemies with ease. Here's how to get the most damage out of her.
Cheryl's role in battle
When you first bring Cheryl into the party, she doesn't have a huge selection of skills, although she does have a rather unique one – Knight Impact. This is a central part of her moveset, as this knight plays into many of her skills, including crowd control is a big part of where she excels.
Early on, Cheryl also receives the divine tiara. While she can't unlock its full potential yet, this gives one a small increase to all her ice attackswhich already gives her a small damage boost compared to other characters. And because group attack moves, like arcing Ice or the area of effect of Knight Impact, have no damage falls offit's best to make sure she always fits as many people as she can in her attacks.
Not long after joining the party, Cheryl will also acquire the Focus skill, making her functionally self-sufficient as long as either Leo or China keeps her healed. Her MP can be replenished infinitely, so you can dish out as much damage as possible. In that sense, it can be helpful to combine Cheryl with Pezzottaite jewels so she can recover MP with each enemy she defeats.
While you should primarily make Cheryl a group damage dealer, that doesn't mean she can't do incredible damage with single attacks. When you unlock both Charge and concentrate With Cheryl, attacking an enemy with an Ice or Dark Strike will deal a frankly absurd amount of damage. So make sure Cheryl always has a companion who can increasing her attack power furtheras Ez.
Cheryl's skills
When you first recruit Cheryl in Act 1, you only have her for a few hours of the game before both she and China are taken from you. As such, you don't have an awful lot of time to actually invest in her, even though she still gets a decent variety of movements at that time.
Here are all the skills that Cheryl knows learn by leveling up:
|
Skill |
Effect |
Level unlocked |
|---|---|---|
|
Ice |
An ice elemental skill that arcs and can pierce enemies. |
Level 8 |
|
Focus |
Allows Cheryl to regain a significant amount of her MP for free. |
Level 11 |
|
Ice Strike |
An ice elemental skill that is about to hit a single enemy. |
Level 13 |
|
Slow |
Hits a single enemy along an arc, slowing them down to reduce the frequency of their turns. |
Level 16 |
As you see, Hon cuts out pretty early on in terms of the skills she learns through leveling due to her being removed from the party early, and until she unlocks her growth map. This is where the real bulk of her skills are acquired, and they add enormous strength to Cheryl's attacks than is already possible.
Cheryl's growth chart
Cheryl gets her Divine Artifact, Tiara, almost immediately, giving her that passive bonus to Ice damage. However, she gains Tiaran's full strength once she is rescued in Act 2. There are the obvious skills to go after right away, such as Jewel Slot + and her tension skillalthough this is the next one you should aim for:
- Charge and Double Charge.
- Dark and Dark Strike.
- Concentrate.
- MP cost down.
These will both give Cheryl more attacks to perform and allow her to reach an absurd plateau of damage. Charge, Concentrate and Attack Power Up buffs all stack to let you turn a typical 2,000-3,000 attack into one that does over 10,000 even on group attacks like Knight Impact. MP cost down will make sure she can go on longer.
After these, it helps to aim for more complementary skills. MP every turn is perfect for longer range battles, Knight Impact RNG+ is a pure upgrade. Although they are locked behind certain nodes, Darkness, Blizzardand their single target variants are hugely powerful when you can eventually get to them.
