Dojutsu has always been a big part of Naruto series, and have played a significant role in the story ever since their official introduction with the Sharingan in Naruto Chapter #12 on January 8, 2000, in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #2. Ever since then, these eyes have only become more significant, and by the time the Naruto series ended, there were many of them introduced by Masashi Kishimoto, with one more overpowered than the other.
That said, the Rinnegan, which was said to be the Godly Eye that first belonged to Hagoromo Otsutsuki, the Sage of Six Paths, was the ultimate strongest Dojutsu. Besides Hagoromo, other characters also continued to awaken this power, such as Madara Uchiha and Sasuke Uchiha, the deuteragonist of the series. IN Boruto: Two Blue VortexThe Rinnegan has been dethroned from its top spot by none other than Sarada Uchiha's Mangekyo Sharingan ability, Ohirume, which is one of the most broken eye abilities in the entire series.
Sarada's Mangekyo Sharingan ability 'Ohirume' surpasses Sasuke's Rinnegan ability 'Amenotejikara'
The Mangekyo Sharingan is one of the very strongest forms of the eye that was first introduced in Naruto Chapter #142 of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #46 on October 28, 2002. This eye is the evolved form of the Sharingan that awakens due to the trauma resulting from the death of a close loved one. The first person to awaken the Mangekyo Sharingan in the recent history of the Naruto series was none other than Madara Uchiha, and along with him, his brother Izuna Uchiha also awakened this power.
“He was the man who stood as one of Konohagakure's fingers and was the first to awaken the Mangekyo Sharingan!” — Itachi Uchiha on Madara Uchiha, Clash of Brothers Arc
After them, Itachi Uchiha was shown to use this immense power in Naruto series, and Sasuke Uchiha also proceeded to awaken it. Each Mangekyo Sharingan grants the user a unique ability. In most cases, each eye in the Mangekyo Sharingan grants a specific ability and an ultimate ability known as Susanoo.
Recently, i Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 20, officially released in V-Jump issue 5 on March 20, 2025, Sarada Uchiha unleashed the power of her Mangekyo Sharingan for the first time. This Mangekyo ability is known as Ohirume. Simply put, Sarada's Mangekyo Sharingan ability allows her to produce up to four powerful black holes. The size and strength of these black holes can be controlled by Sarada according to her will. In addition to that, Sarada can also freely control what is attracted by the black hole's gravity and what is excluded. The strength of gravity is such that even Otsutsuki-level individuals such as Shinju cannot resist it and are immediately sucked in and crushed.
“The restrictions are gone. The sand is gathering in one place. What's going on? Are those eyes…Mangekyo Sharingan?” — Mitsuki, seeing Sarada use her Mangekyo Sharingan for the first time, Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter #20
IN Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 21, released on April 20, 2026, in V-Jump Issue #6, Sarada Uchiha used this power to absolutely destroy Ryu in battle. In Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 31, Sarada Uchiha once again harnessed the power of Ohirume to crush twenty or so clones of Mamushi at once, showcasing the incredible crushing power of this Dojutsu. Compared to Sasuke Uchiha's Rinnegan, Sarada's Mangekyo Sharingan is much better. Sasuke's Rinnegan ability, called Amenotejikara, allows him to switch places with anything or anyone, or have two things switch places between them within a certain interval, a certain number of times. This Dojutsu is strong but is more of a supplementary ability that allows Sasuke to surprise his enemies; but compared to Ohirume, it lacks in terms of strength, making Sarada's Mangekyo stronger.
Boruto: Why Sarada's Susanoo will be the strongest, explained
Sarada will have a powerful Susanoo. If anything, it might be the strongest in the Naruto and Boruto series.
The Boruto series has seriously geeked out on the power of the Rinnegan
There is a very important distinction that must be made when comparing Sarada's Mangekyo Sharingan to the Rinnegan. Simply put, Sarada's Mangekyo Sharingan is very strong, but it cannot compare to the original Rinnegan from the Naruto series. In Naruto, the Rinnegan had a variety of overpowered abilities known as the Six Paths Powers.
These powers turned individuals into almost god-like figures who could essentially rule over life and death. As explained by Nagato Uzumaki himself in Naruto Chapter 449, released in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #27 on June 15, 2009. Against the original Rinnegan, Sarada's Mangekyo Sharingan would have absolutely no chance, given that the Rinnegan can simply absorb any Ninjutsu including itself.

However, it must be noted that in the Boruto series, the Rinnegan has been severely nerfed by Mikio Ikemoto. The original Six Paths Powers of the Rinnegan are barely used. As such, Sasuke Uchiha never uses the power of the Six Paths which makes him akin to a God and even opens paths to abilities such as immortality and reincarnation for him, as he himself said in Naruto Chapter #696. Due to the nervous nature of the Rinnegan, which practically only allows Sasuke to use two specific techniques, they are a space-time ninjutsu that opens portals and the Amenotejikara, this eye is officially inferior to Sarada's Mangekyo Sharingan.
“I started with the Sharingan, but now I have the Rinnegan as well. Reincarnation, immortality, have many options.” — Sasuke Uchiha explains the godly nature of the Rinnegan, Naruto Chapter #696
Sarada's next Mangekyo Sharingan upgrades will put her above the Nerfed Rinnegan
Interestingly, Sarada Uchiha's development isn't quite complete in the Boruto series. Right now, Sarada is dealing with the consequences of overusing the Mangekyo Sharingan. The strength of Ohirume is comparable to a Rinnegan power, and due to the overwhelmed nature of her eyes, blindness hits her even harder than ever before, as confirmed by Sakura Haruno in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 34 on May 20, 2026. Sarada must figure out a way to bypass the blindness that comes with the Mangekyo Sharan.
“As I thought, the recipe doesn't seem right. Your eyesight has clearly deteriorated compared to before. That's a risk that inevitably follows the Mangekyō Sharingan. The more you use it, the more your eyesight deteriorates… It depends on the nature of the technique and how it's used… but anyway; if you keep using it like this, you'll end up completely blind.” — Sakura Haruno says that Sarada's eyesight is getting weaker, Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter #34
More than that, there are other abilities of Sarada's Mangekyo Sharingan that have not been revealed yet. As is the case with most Mangekyo, each eye offers a unique ability. In Sarada's case, only one ability has been shown so far, meaning that another power of her Mangekyo Sharingan will be shown later. What's more, the ultimate ability of Sarada's Mangekyo Sharingan, i.e. Susanoo, has yet to be revealed in the series. This power will make its debut in the series sometime later, and when equipped with the incredibly powerful Ohirume ability, this Susanoo has the potential to surpass all Rinnegan powers in the world, including those of Naruto, if used properly.
Kakashi Hatake, who wielded the dual Mangekyo Sharingan in the Fourth Great Ninja War, was even able to overwhelm Kaguya, proving that even with just the Mangekyo Sharingan, a Rinnegan can basically be surpassed. Sarada can do something similar with her eye, provided Ikemoto handles the character properly, and it's something we're excited to see in the future.
