Splash Whale Hunt is one of Heartopias limited underwater collection events, which reward players who explore every corner of Whalefall Canyon. Every day it introduces a brand new colored splash whale hidden somewhere in the ocean. Taking a photo of the whale completes part of the event, while finding its matching bubble unlocks a decorative furniture version for your home.
Since there is a new election every day, it can be easy to miss one or forget where previous locations were. This guide covers all the Splash Whale slots currently available, along with the matching bubble slots so you can complete your collection and win rewards in Heartopia.
How to start the hunt for splash whales
Splash Whale Hunt becomes available immediately after you unlock the underwater region of Whalefall Canyon. During the event, Naughty introduces a special collection challenge which asks players to photograph hidden splash whales scattered across the underwater map.
Just taking a picture is only half the goal. Each whale also has a nearby floating shell bubble that can be collected to unlock the whales as a placeable home decoration.
A new Splash Whale is added every day, so this event rewards players for checking in regularly.

Light Blue Splash Whale (Day 1) |
The Light Blue Splash Whale can be found on the second floor of the DG Expedition Base Camp. Swim outside the building and look towards the upper window where the whales are sitting. |
After taking the picture, turn right facing the window. Swim towards the nearby pink coral formations to find the matching light blue splash whale bubble floating nearby. |
Green Splash Whale Location (Day 2) |
The green splash whale is perched on top of the underwater portal. |
As soon as you dive deep into the ocean, turn around and look above the portal entrance. Take a picture before swimming behind the portal, where the Green Splash Whale bubble is. This one is easy to miss, so keep your eyes open at the entrance instead of looking back. |
Location of Orange Splash Whale (Day 3) |
The Orange Splash Whale can be found on the ground floor inside the DG Expedition Base Camp. Look between the entrance and the stairs where it rests among the coral decorations. |
After taking the picture, simply turn around. The Orange Splash Whale bubble floats right behind you. |
Yellow Splash Whale Location (Day 4) |
The Yellow Splash Whale appears in the bright yellow coral north of the base camp near the area where players first meet Oliver during the underwater storyline. |
The matching bubble is west of the base camp. Swim around the rocky sea mountains until you see the floating shell bubbling. If you're already completing Oliver's quest, you'll practically find it along the way. |
Location of Purple Splash Whale (Day 5) |
The Purple Splash Whale sits in the base camp courtyard next to the table where Atara usually stands. |
After taking your whale photo, go to Azure near the fence and continue swimming into the kelp behind the camp. You'll find the Purple Splash Whale bubble hidden among the kelp just waiting to be picked up. |
Olivine Splash Whale Location (Day 6) |
The Olivine Splash Whale can be found inside the transparent balcony attached to the base camp. Continue swimming upwards until you reach the balcony and photograph the whales. |
When you're done, stay nearby as the Olivine Splash Whale bubble floats around the balcony itself. You don't have to travel anywhere else for the collectible. |
Location of gray splash whales (day 7) |
The Gray Splash Whale can be found on the table between Azure and Annie inside the base camp. |
After taking the desired photo, swim behind the camp's tallest tower. You'll find an alcove tucked into the rocks where the bubble of gray splashes floats. |
Cyan Splash Whale Location (Day 8) |
Cyan Splash Whale is hidden behind Annie near the underwater base camp. Swim past Annie into the blue coral area to find the whales resting there. |
After taking your picture, continue swimming towards the nearby rock formation on the left. The cyan Splash Whale bubble floats in a continuous loop around these rocks, so wait a few seconds if you don't immediately spot it. |
Pink Splash Whale Location (Day 9) |
The Pink Splash Whale can be found along Coral Way just before it enters Whalefall. Look for a pink coral ledge located in the middle of the narrow coral road passage. The whale blends into the surrounding coral, making it one of the most difficult to spot. |
After photographing it, swim up to the ledge directly behind the whales on the east side. The matching shell bubble circles this platform in a loop until it is collected. |
Location of Azure Splash Whale (Day 10) |
Found on Blue Coral, just off the northern corner of Coral Way. |
Found on Blue Coral, just past the whales on its right side. |
If a newly released whale does not appear, check if the weekly reset has occurred. Some daily whales become available only after the new event day begins.
Frequently asked questions
Why can't I find today's Splash Whale?
New whales unlock one per event day. If the latest election does not appear, your server may not have reached the next daily reset yet. To check your server and find out when the reset time is, be sure to read our guide on When are dailies and shops reset in Heartopia?
Can I collect older splash whales later?
Yes. As long as the event is still active, previously released splashes will remain available, so you can catch up if you missed out on previous days. We tried to catch all 10 today and had no problems at all, so even if you try this on the 15th day, you'll be fine and still get the rewards. However, we recommend that you don't miss this mission because it's quite easy and you get to keep the cool furniture.
