5 Strongest Demons You've Never Heard Of, Ranked

Dragon Ball has a lot more races than just humans, Saiyans, and Namekians, though you might need to look beyond Akira Toriyama's manga or canon anime to see the full list. If we take DBZ games like Super Dragon Ball Heroes and Xenoverse regard, Demons can have Saiyans beat in terms of numbers and power, and that's even if we split Majins into their own category.

Dragon Balls cannon Demons got a big boost from Alwayswhich takes place almost entirely in the Demon Realm. But the multiverse is home to far stronger demons than King Gomah or even Janemba, including many demon gods. Because they are so absurdly overpowered that they would completely break Dragon Balls already shaky power scaling, these characters must continue to exist in the Expanded Universe.

Only characters that debuted in Dragon Ball games will be considered, and none from the canon saga or movies.

This article is part of a weekly series where I discuss lesser known ones Dragon Ball characters from the games or Super Dragon Ball Heroes. The previous iterations included characters in general, Saiyans and villains.

I'm also leaving out the following demons because they're either too popular or appeared in similar articles:

  • Towa – Simply too well known due to its presence in Xenoverse game.

  • Demigra – Fairly recognizable as the first antagonist Xenoverse. I also included him in a similar article about lesser knowns Dragon Ball villains, so I don't want to make an exception twice.

  • Fin – Technically qualifies as a Demon, but he is primarily an Android Majin.

  • Mechikabura – I've already included him in two articles in this series, so I'll avoid doubling up on him.

Gravy is a demon wizard with magical muscles

Who said you can't have it all?

  • Introduced in Dragon Ball Heroes

  • A big villain in Super Dragon Ball Heroes early chapters of the manga, but only appears briefly in the anime.

Okay, look, I know a demon's name Sauce is impossible to take seriously, but he doesn't even have the dumbest name in this article. Push past that part, and you'll find a rare breed of Dragon Ball villain: A wizard who can deal a devastating blow. With Mechikabura summoned to a demon god, Gravy goes from a sorcerer who needs to fight from a distance to a physical specimen who fights with a hammer infused with dark magic.

Historically, Dragon Ball tend to present their magic users as glass cannons, so Gravy goes very much against that trend. Even before he truly takes hold of his Demon God power, his manga version manages to overwhelm Xeno Vegeta and even manages to survive against Xeno Vegeks, a fusion of Xeno Vegeta and Future Trunks.

i admit, Super Dragon Ball Heroes is strange and too much.

Once he masters his newfound power, his physical durability becomes genuinely impressive, surviving hits from the likes of SS4 Xeno Gogeta.

Janembu combines DBZ's deadliest enemies

Dragon Ball Fusions answers the questions the canon story is too afraid to ask

  • Just in Dragon Ball Fusions

Despite all its flaws, Dragon Ball Fusions may well be the franchise's ultimate fanservice game, and its existence gave birth to BROKEN fusions like Karoly Black, Whirus, and Cellza. One of the most insane abominations found in the story is the Janembu, which brings together two beings of pure unfiltered evil: Kid Buu and Janemba.

In their base forms, these two are the strongest villains Dragon Ball Z era, and they can probably hold their own against quite a few monsters introduced in later sagas. As a fusion combination, Janembu is classified as G Rank in Mergersthe highest level which also includes the likes of Beerus and Whis. Consequently, they act as a very late game boss, and unlocking them involves completing a post-game mission.

Putine is a demon goddess who can cast spells on you

The Ultimate Brain Over Brawn

  • Introduced in Dragon Ball Heroes

  • Gravy's partner-in-crime i Super Dragon Ball Heroes manga, while she appears with Salsa in the anime. Yes, Dragon Ball has a Majin named Salsa.

I said we had a demon with an even sillier name than Gravy.

The main series only features a handful of female villains, with Android 18 being the only really notable one, and she's primarily seen as a hero these days. Ribrianne and Cheelai are OK Dragon Ball Super-your characters, and I guess you can also count Kefla as a pseudo-villain. In comparison, the games have a much better selection of female antagonists, with Towa and Android 21 comfortably outshining all canon villains except Android 18.

Although not as iconic as the two, Putin nevertheless serves as a prime example of this trend, and the demon goddess can hold her own alongside all of her male companions. Similar to Gravy, Putine is a powerful magic user who is raised to new heights by Mechikabura; however, unlike Gravy, she largely avoids getting into direct physical confrontations. She specializes in spatial and elemental manipulation, allowing her to distort environments and isolated groups of people.

Putine even has the ability to forcibly transform someone by injecting them with the power of the Demon Goddess. She transforms Perfect Cell into a super-sized monster known as Cell-X.

Who is that character?

Identify the silhouettes before time runs out.

Shroom absorbs souls like a true demon (God)

In a sea of demon gods, he is more divine than most

  • Introduced in Dragon Ball Heroes

  • Appears prominently in Super Dragon Ball Heroes manga, and only briefly in the anime.

Dragon Ball overflowing with powerhouses that can destroy mountains with a flick of the wrist or bench press a planet, so new characters have to offer something more than just brawn. Along with keeping yourself physically, Shroom stands out due to his unique use of his Potara Earrings, which allow him to directly absorb someone's soul to enhance his base strength. His weapon of choice, the Cleaver, facilitates this power by ignoring the target's body and going straight for their spirit, literally slicing away at their soul.

The Super Dragon Ball Heroes The anime uses Shroom and most of the demons pretty poorly, but he gets a lot more of a showcase in the anime, where he fights the likes of Xeno Janemba, Goku, and Vegeta. He actually beats everyone, despite being double teamed by the Saiyans.

1

Robelu is the goddess of dark magic

Demigra's right lieutenant

  • Introduced in Dragon Ball Heroes

  • Shown in both Super Dragon Ball Heroes manga and anime

While Demigra stars as Xenoverses last villain, his Dragon Ball Heroes side kick, Robeluis nowhere to be seen. At a glance, she may not seem that impressive, but she is rightfully one of the most powerful demons in the Dragon Ball multiverse. In it Super Dragon Ball Heroes anime, she fights Towa to a standstill at her absolute strongest, which would be impressive for pretty much any character in the franchise.

As always, the manga and arcade game give this demon goddess a lot more to do than the anime, allowing her to showcase a range of not only abilities, but tactical nuances as well. During a brief period when Demigra's forces join forces with the Time Patrol, Robelu takes on a leadership role as she directs the Z-Fighters during their battle against Omega Shenron. She defeats Putine pretty easily too.

Most demons can use dark magic to some degree, but Robelu's mastery of it puts her far ahead of the pack. She can manipulate time, nullify attacks, put up magical barriers, and even put people to sleep with a tap of her wand.
