Without a mount, travel in an open world RPG that Gothic 1 Remake can be very tiring. There is a way to get a mount fairly early, if you know where to go and are willing to put in some work.
On the way to the New Camp there is a man named Cohsel who has a wolf companion and a Scavenger mountain, which interests your hero a lot. Here's everything you need to know about getting your very own Scavenger mount.
How to get a Scavenger Mount
To start Beak Performance side quests in Gothic 1 Remake, you must journey towards New Camp by going left out of the main exit from Old Camp.
When the path splits, the left fork will take you to the orc camp, however you want go right and take the lower path.
Keep to the right side of the path as it curves around to the left, past a hut, and you'll come to another fork in the road. Here you can either go directly to New Camp or take a sharp left. Go left to find Cohsel's hut.
Talk to Cohsel and ask him about what he does, and exhaust all call selections. Eventually you will find out that he has tamed a Scavenger, and you can ask him about it. He will refuse about three times, but keep nagging him about it until he explains how.
Now is the time to travel to the New Camp and dive in the lake at the entrance to find King tide Herbs.
You need five to give to Cohsel, so this may take a couple of days to gather while you wait for more to grow.
Bring the herbs back to Cohsel, and he will now ask for 3 Wolf skin and 2 leather strips. Exit Cohsel's place and leave left; just down the road is a hut with skins hanging outside. Talk to Adrian and learn how to get fur from wolves. This will cost 1 LP and 250 ore nuggets.
You can hunt wolves anywhere in the surrounding area. Just listen for the howl and kill and skin 3 wolves. To find leather strips, visit Fish at Old camp and buy your strips for 10 ore lumps each.
Return to Cohsel and give him his materials, he will tell you to come back later to get your mount. Go back to your camp and sleep, go back the next day, and Cohsel will give you one whistle. Equip it and then whistle when you need your mount to appear.
