After 17 years, One Piece reveals the 3 strongest Mythical Zoan Fruits

Mythical Zoan Devil Fruits were first introduced in One Piece Chapter 553 of the Paramount War arc of One Piece on August 19, 2009. The first of the lot to be introduced was the Tori Tori no Mi, Model: Phoenix, used by the First Division Commander of the Whitebeard Pirates, Marco. Since then, 17 years have passed, and finally One Piece has introduced a plethora of incredibly overpowered Mythical Zoans.

In the climax of the Elbaf arc, specifically chapters 1179 and 1182, Eiichiro Oda has lined up two of the most powerful Mythical Zoans. Combined with Luffy's Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika, which was revealed in Wano on March 28, 2022, One Piece now has its own trinity of overpowered Mythical Zoan Devil Fruits reigning supreme.

The Mythical Zoan class of Devil Fruit has gotten a lot of attention from One Piece creator Eiichiro Oda, and it's something we all love to see. Mythical Zoans offers Oda plenty of creativity, and it's clear that the author loves experimenting with different mythical creatures from the world's different mythologies and incorporating them into One Piece. In One Piece Chapter 1179, which was officially released and in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #19 on April 6, 2026, Eiichiro Oda officially introduced one of the most overpowered Devil Fruits to ever exist in One Piece – Akuma no Mi. This Devil Fruit is wielded by Nerona Imu, and it allows him to transform into the Devil of the world itself. Given that this ability does not fit into either the Logia or Paramecia classes and allows one to take the transformation of the mythical creature, it most certainly fits into the Mythical Zoan class of Devil Fruits.

Akuma no Mi is incredibly powerful, as it allows Nerona Imu to turn into the devil. It also allows him to use a unique power called God's Dominance, which grants various abilities through contracts. Using the power of God's Dominion, Imu can turn anyone into a demon slave with enhanced powers through techniques such as Domi Reversi. Imu has also shown us the ability to make various contracts with her minions and grant them powers through covenants such as infinite regeneration, immortality, as well as superhuman strength.

“The omen is my military power. A power that resides in all living things.” — Nerona Imu, One Piece Chapter #1181

Most notably, Imus' Akuma no Mi allows him to harness the power of Omen or Maki. As Imu describes it, the Omen is his military strength and a very lethal ability found in the world. It presents itself as black flames and can form into various weapons such as bullets, bombs and even swords. These black flames are incredibly strong and can devastate almost anyone with a few hits, as was clearly seen in One Piece Chapter 1180, which was officially released on April 20, 2026, in Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #21.

One Piece Chapter 1182 also revealed yet another Mythical Zoan Devil Fruit, and this one was none other than Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Zaza. This is very similar to the power that Luffy wields, only in this case the divine entity is not Nika but Zaza. Zaza is the rain god, who is summoned through prayers for rain, as confirmed by Saint Killingham in One Piece Chapter 1182, which was officially released in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #24 on May 10, 2026.

“Appearing to the rhythm of the prayers for rain… Rain God Zaza!” — Saint Killingham, One Piece Chapter 1182

One Piece: Every God From The Void Century & Their Strongest Abilities, Ranked

One Piece's Void Century housed many gods, each with their own overpowered abilities.

The Zaza Devil Fruit allows the user to transform into a divine being that can bring down huge downpours of rain and cause severe flooding. In a way, it allows the user to manipulate water and also gives them a body made of rainwater. This means that this Devil Fruit power can basically nullify the Devil Fruit abilities of everyone else in the world of One Piece, making it its own top-tier ability. This also means that it is one of the most powerful Mythical Zoans in the entire series.

“We were born in a place so high, it's mainly the rain clouds. Water coming down from the sky? It's a mysterious terror! After the people of D and Nika, it was the most common boogeyman they warned us that…that in the lower world there is a monster called the Rain God that dumps water on top of your head!” — Saint Killingham explains the terrifying power of Rain God Zaza in One Piece Chapter #1182

One Piece Chapter 1044 introduced Luffy's Hito Hito no Mi Model: Nika

With the reveal of Nerona Imus Akuma no Mi as well as Hito Hito no Mi Model: Zaza in chapters 1179 and 1182 respectively, One Piece has two incredibly strong Mythical Zoans lined up in the Elbaf arc. When paired with Monkey D. Luffy's Hito Hito no Mi Model: Nika, which was officially revealed in One Piece Chapter 1044 on March 28, 2022, in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #17, a trinity of the strongest Mythical Zoans is officially created.

Luffy's Hito Hito no Mi Model: Nika allows him to transform into the Sun God Nika, who fights with immense freedom in any way he wants. He brings laughter and joy wherever he goes and also frees slaves from their shackles, making him the warrior of liberation. He can make anything he imagines come true and is only bound by his own imagination in battle, making him a fearsome warrior. Next to the Devil of the One Piece world, that is Nerona Imu, as well as the God of Rain, it is easily one of the most overpowered Mythical Zoan Fruits to ever exist.

“Possessing a body with the powers of rubber and fighting in any way he wants, bringing smiles to people, the warrior of liberation…also known as the sun god, Nika!” – The Gorosei in One Piece Chapter 1044

Eiichiro Oda sets up two more legendary mythic zoans after Elbaf

a piece of Two Legendary Mythical Zoans

The Elbaf Arc of One Piece has already introduced us to quite a few powerful Mythical Zoan Devil Fruits. In addition to Nerona Imu's Akuma no Mi and Rain God Zaza Fruit, there is also Loki's Ryu Ryu no Mi, Model: Nidhoggr to consider, which is an ability with the ability to destroy the world and in a sense a god power in itself, given that it was previously wielded by Elbaf's God of War. Meanwhile, there is also the Risu Risu no Mi, Model: Ratatoskr to consider, which brings the power of a legendary squirrel strong enough to permanently freeze anything it wants. These two abilities certainly add a lot to the already expanding Mythical Zoan class of One Piece, but there are more abilities to come in the coming months.

With One Piece Chapter 1182 confirming the existence of Rain God Zaza, we now know that all the other gods mentioned in Chapter 287, such as the Forest God and the Earth God, also exist somewhere in the world of One Piece. After Elbaf, two more gods will be revealed according to One Piece Chapter 1182 and 287, and it's really exciting for all of us fans. We can't wait to see what Eiichiro Oda does with the concept of Mythical Zoans moving into the meat of the Final Saga.

All chapters of Eiichiro Oda's One Piece are available to read via Manga Plus and Viz Media.
