Ocarina of Time Remake, New Open-World Game and New 2D Game

Three different ones The Legend of Zelda video game project has been detailed by three separate leakers, meaning at least one of them (if not all) is likely wrong, but each one is as enticing as the next. Suffice it to say, about all of these The Legend of Zelda rumors and leaks turn out to be true, then the next few years could be a real treat for fans. And at least the timelines add up because The tears of the kingdom is officially 3 years old. That one hurts.

The first one The Legend of Zelda rumor, and apparently the most reliable, suggests that a Ocarina of Time Remake will be playing Nintendo Switch 2 this holiday season, so at least fans won't have a long wait for this one. Next hint that Ganondorf is receiving his own 2D game, similar to Zelda herself in Echo of wisdom. Finally, some details have leaked regarding the next one Zelda subsequent games Breath of the Wild and The tears of the kingdom.

Nintendo Switch 2 players will soon be treated to a game that could help fill the Zelda-shaped void in the console's library.

Travel to the past to save the princess in Ocarina of Time 2026 (Wisdom)

Noted leaker Nate the Hate has stated that the big Holiday game this year for the Nintendo Switch 2 will be a remake of Ocarina of Time, which, as one of the highest-rated games of all time, is an exciting claim. Nate the Hate didn't say more than that, but if it ends up being true, it has to be assumed that the reveal would come during Nintendo's big Summer Direct. Of course, that remains to be seen, but Nate the Hate made some other claims when they first leaked Ocarina of time Switch 2 remake, namely that a new Star Fox the game would be announced by Nintendo soon and it Splatoon Raiders was released in the summer of 2026. Both turned out to be true, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Nate the Hate goes 3/3 here.

Pursue strength as Ganondorf in a new 2D game in 2027 (Power)

Nash Weedle's track record isn't as strong as Nate the Hates, but they're still worth listening to, more so than many random users on the internet. According to them, sometime after the release of Ocarina of time remake, Nintendo will reveal and confirm a new 2D Zelda game for 2027. This new game was developed by Nintendo and Grezzo and uses the same engine as Echo of wisdom and will likely follow Ganondorf as a protagonist. It's not much, but it's easy to see how Ocarina of time and a new Ganondorf game could be an epic 1-2 punch similar to the 2023 The tears of the kingdom and the 2024s Echo of wisdom.

I recently marathoned the Legend of Zelda games, and here are my official rankings

The Legend of Zelda is a classic franchise that I skipped over the years, so marathoning them allows me to form my own opinions on many classics.

Tear Through Reality in Next Legend of Zelda Open World Game 2028 or Beyond (Courage)

Finally, there's the next big mainline 3D entry in The Legend of Zelda franchise, is said to use the same engine as Breath of the Wild and The tears of the kingdom (with improvements) by Spheshal Nick. Nick's track record is pretty solid in most aspects, so I'd put his claims right alongside Nate the Hates. It will be set in the same world as BotW and TotKalthough it is uncertain if this would be the ever-rare third in the franchise, and it will expand the realm of Hyrule with new dimensions. This dimension hopping game is also used to complete puzzles by creating tears in real life. Nick gives two primary examples: using a charging bull in one dimension to hit a target to open a door in a new one; using water in one dimension to pour into another and flood a pool-like room.

Jeff Grubb was talking to Nick on the XboxEra Podcast when Nick revealed this information from a source, and even though Grubb didn't have this information himself, it made perfect sense to him. In fact, Grubb said that being about 2-3 years away from the end of 2025 (putting it in a 2027-2029) makes sense to him, given The tears of the kingdoms release date and Nintendo's overall game development pipeline.

The Tri-Force of Zelda Game Leaks

Overall, it's worth mentioning that all of these games should be taken with a grain of salt, but how they line up nicely (Ocarina of time remake 2026, Ganondorf 2027 and open world Zelda game sometime thereafter) is interesting, as they don't seem to be any more coordinated than Nash Weedle is aware of Ocarina of time remake leak. It remains to be seen, but hopefully Ocarina of time remake is confirmed sooner rather than later. It will not necessarily lend credibility to these others Zelda games, especially since they all come from different leakers, but that would add a little more weight to the idea being right.

When and where that happens is, as of this writing, unknown. We can only speculate that it will happen at a Nintendo Direct in June, given that Summer Game Fest, Xbox Games Showcase and PlayStation State of Play, but Nintendo has yet to confirm even that.
