PlayStation will reportedly no longer port its major PS5 exclusive games, such as Ghost of Yotei and Sarosto PC. PlayStation's early strategy revolved around buying the exclusive rights to release certain games on its consoles, encouraging customers to buy Sony's gaming hardware over competitors. Eventually, PlayStation bought entire studios, securing series such as God of war, Ratchet and Clankand Horizon belonged to the company.
PlayStation management changed its console-exclusive strategy around 2020, after one of the company's biggest exclusive games moved platform. When Horizon Zero Dawn launched on PC, it was seen as a monumental shift in PlayStation's strategy, with other big name titles soon following. Helldivers 2, God of warand Marvel's Spider-Man were reportedly hugely successful on PC, selling millions of copies each. The strategy of porting some of its biggest games to PC has reportedly brought the company over $1 billion in revenue.

According to a report by Bloomberg's Jason Schreier, the CEO of Sony's Studio Business Group, Hermen Hulst, told staff that the company would no longer be porting the company's narrative single-player games to PC. Games focused on online multiplayer, such as Marathon and Marvel Tokenswill apparently still be released on multiple platforms, but single-player games, which Ghost of Yotei and Saros, will remain console exclusives. This change only applies to PlayStation Studios games, so titles for which the company has purchased exclusivity, e.g. PlayStation published Death Stranding 2: On The Beachcan still be ported to PC.

Sales of PlayStation's latest PC release were reportedly lower than expected, which is likely one of the reasons why the company is backing off on its multi-platform strategy. In March, PlayStation raised the price of its consoles, which is sure to add to the company's fears that customers will be put off by the rising cost of console gaming. By removing the ability for people to play PlayStation's big exclusive games on PC, fans of certain games will have to buy a console if they want to get involved. This strategy has been popular with Nintendo since its inception, although Xbox has been pushing to release its studio games on all possible platforms in recent years.
PC gamers waited at least a year for PlayStation games to be released on their platform, with many delayed even longer. This was reportedly because PlayStation wanted to encourage gamers to buy its hardware so they could play big-name games when they were released. Not only this, but porting games to PC was not a priority for the company, which always puts its proprietary hardware first. PlayStation Studios games also often saw a second wave of popularity when released on PC, giving sales and revenue a much-welcomed bubble.
