Nintendo reveals new Zelda amiibo

A new amiibo based on The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has been revealed by Nintendo, along with the first images, and a release date. Since its launch in 2023, Nintendo has offered several amiibo based on The tears of the kingdomincluding Link, Zelda, Ganondorf and some of the game's supporting characters.

Nintendo first started releasing amiibo in 2014, with the first wave coinciding with the launch of the Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. More than a decade later, the company seems to have no plans to slow down, with more figures set to be released by the end of 2026. Resident Evil Requiem amiibo will be released in July, and several figures based on Splatoon Raiders and Kirby Air Riders is also on the way.

Nintendo's next Zelda Amiibo

Next amiibo based on Zelda franchise will be Mineru's Construct, which will be released on September 17th. From the images shown so far, this looks significantly larger than the amiibo based on the Shows from Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomwhich was released last year. Mineru's build will also have articulated arms, giving fans more freedom to pose it however they want. The figure will cost $34.99, which is similar to the price of the recently released one Super Mario Galaxy amiibo. These Mario and Rosalina figures were also on the larger side, and that should give fans an idea of what to expect in terms of scale. Pre-orders are now live on the Nintendo Store.

Mineru's build will be compatible with multiple games. Players can scan in amiibo Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment and Zelda: Breath of the Wild to receive random items. Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has several different paraglider fabrics, and a new one will debut alongside the Minerus Construct amiibo. Players who scan it in-game will receive random items just like in the other games, but they also have a chance to receive a special fabric that can partially glow in the dark.

This year celebrates the 40th anniversary of the original Zelda the game's release on the NES, and Nintendo has largely avoided discussing the occasion. That's probably why Mario and Pokémon both are celebrating big milestones at the moment, but there's a good chance things could change later this year. A Zelda: Ocarina of Time A remake is rumored for the Nintendo Switch 2, with a release said to take place during the holiday season. Nintendo released an amiibo of Link based on his appearance in Ocarina of time several years ago, but it's not easy to imagine that more could be done to coincide with the upcoming remake, if those rumors turn out to be true.

After more than a decade, it's almost hard to believe that amiibo figures continue to prove profitable for Nintendo. However, the figures are still very popular among the company's fans, despite the fact that prices have increased over the past year, largely due to tariffs. Even upcoming games that don't have their own dedicated figures coming will still have in-game amiibo support, including both Star Fox and Yoshi and the Mysterious Book. As long as fans continue to support amiibo, it doesn't seem like Nintendo has any plans to move away from making them.
