One Piece is the best-selling manga in the entire world, having passed the 600 million sales mark and becoming the best-selling comic book of all time. With so much success, it's not surprising that the series gets massive projects one after the other. While the Toei anime adaptation is still ongoing, One Piece also has another anime in the works. The One Piece remake by WIT Studio is scheduled for release in 2027 and looks to be absolutely huge. Now it has been officially confirmed that fans will get their first look at this new anime at the biggest animation event, Annecy International Film Festival.
One Piece Remake by WIT Studio will show new content at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival
The One Piece anime has a decent anime adaptation by Toei Animation that has been released weekly since 1999. So far it has accumulated over 1100 episodes, and is still going, with no end in sight at the moment. While the Toei version of One Piece continues to receive new episodes, there is another anime for this franchise that fans must look out for, and that is the WIT Studio remake, titled “The One Piece.”
The One Piece was officially announced at Jump Festa 2024but very little information about it has been released since then. After a release window announcement of May 7, 2026, new information about this anime project will officially arrive very soon. It has been officially announced by Netflix on their X account that The One Piece remake will be presented during the world's biggest animation festival – Annecy International Animation Film Festival. This event is expected to take place between June 21 and June 27, 2026, and some may attend in Annecy, France. There, The One Piece remake by Wit Studio and Netflix will finally give fans their first sneak peek, as confirmed by Netflix. That means fans are in for a trailer or at least a teaser, along with more information about the production process. One Piece Remake will not have its own stage, but it will be part of the Netflix lineup.

Why the Annecy International Animation Film Festival will be the biggest day for fans of the series
The Annecy International Animation Film Festival is going to be absolutely huge for One Piece for more than one reason. First, it will reveal tons of exciting information about this long-awaited adaptation that has now been in the works for almost 3 years. In addition to that, it will also continue to increase the reach of One Piece globally. As many anime fans have now noticed, Japanese animation is often rejected or ignored at international award shows or events. Usually, only Studio Ghibli ever appears at such big events, like the Oscars. Even Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle was rejected from this major event after its massive financial success.
The fact that One Piece is being shown at the biggest animation festival in the entire world is huge news, not only for the One Piece series itself, but for anime in general. It's clear that anime is being taken more seriously globally. One Piece's appearance sets a huge precedent and just shows how massive this project by WIT is about to become.

Everything we know so far about the One Piece anime remake by WIT Studio and Netflix
Fans are eagerly waiting for June to arrive as more information about The One Piece is revealed. So far, quite a bit of information has been given to fans this month. The One Piece remake by WIT Studio was first announced in December 2023, during Jump Festa 2024. It will be produced by some of the same staff as Attack on Titan's first three seasons, which includes director Masashi Koizuka, and other talented animators and directors. Kyouji Sabo will be in charge of character design.
Just a few days ago, it was officially revealed that The One Piece anime remake Season 1 will have 7 episodes in total. While 7 episodes may sound short at first, according to Netflix, these episodes will each be 42 minutes long, which is roughly twice the length of regular episodes, totaling around 300 minutes worth of content. In normal anime terms, this is closer to 14 episodes. With 7 chapters per episode, the pace is absolutely perfect. In addition, the release window for the project has also been revealed, and this anime will debut in February 2027. The exact release date is yet to be determined, but this is still exciting news for fans. A new Key Visual for the anime remake was also revealed, but the big teasers won't come until June, during the much-anticipated film festival.
