Peter Parker and Miles Morales were both at major turning points in their lives, and Peter was left with the difficult decision to take a small step back from the world of law enforcement. This leaves Marvel's Spider-Man 3 in an interesting position when it comes to Peter's story arc, and his next chapter will hopefully be on the upcoming MCU film Spider-Man: Brand New Day as an inspiration, especially when it comes to how MJ's role is handled.

Peter and MJ's relationship was not the strongest it could have been Marvel's Spider-Man 2and the third chapter should lean even harder into it, potentially even breaking up the couple for part of the game.

Perhaps Peter is going back on his promise to limit law enforcement and is now devoting more time to his superhero duties than ever. It could easily create a rift between him and MJ. While Insomniac wants to keep the duo together and happy, there are better ways to show MJ's importance that don't involve jarring stealth missions.

At the end of Marvel's Spider-Man 2MJ quits the Daily Bugle and goes independent with his very own podcast. Her new freelance reporting job is the perfect way for her to be an integral part of the story without feeling shoehorned into action segments. MJ's podcast would be a good substitute for Marvel's Spider-Man 2s Danikast, or it could also be an extra podcast that players can listen to throughout the game.

Insomniac's next game is Marvel's Wolverine and will launch on September 15, 2026. The developers have veered away from MJ-like stealth missions with this project. Stealth is still a mechanic, but it's optional, as Wolverine is known for his aggression. Now that Insomniac has tackled a project that includes optional stealth, it will be interesting to see if it affects the next one Marvel's Spider-Man game.
