Complementing the title character are a host of reworked characters such as M and Miss Moneypenny, who will also be seen in a different light than previously seen in the films. And with a brand new villain at the helm, the game is already showing that, despite the name, it's more than happy to move far away from the existing franchise in an entirely distinct direction.

Graphical presentation has become increasingly important over the years, and in this case the cinematic nature of the experience really takes center stage. The game aims to capture the magic of the film Bond movies while preserving player agency by structuring missions with multiple approaches and striking a balance between spectacle and interactivity.
Historically, Bond Games struggled with this balance, often leaning too heavily on scripts that in the long run suffered from a lack of commitment. First light approach suggests a more modern design philosophy, where cinematic elements enhance rather than replace gameplay, and where the interests of the player are put first, over simply making a good-looking product.

In the broader context, this reflects how far design has come over the years, and how it feels more and more that games are choosing to present linear paths to success, as opposed to opening the doors for players to truly escape with. The constant fragmentation nature of the locations and the large number of options available also means that the triumphs will feel much more rewarding, because after figuring out a series of steps and making it to the end, players will be able to pat themselves on the back and appreciate their newfound espionage skills.
