How does attribute volatility work in Saros?

Saros is Housemarque's latest game, and it follows Arjun Devrajs story as he explores more of the Carcosa and trying to find the colonists. The game has a lot of mechanics, most of which are quite easy to understand, but Attribute Volatility may be an exception for some players. Since this mechanic doesn't trigger very often early on, players curious about how it works can check it out Saros guide below for more information.

As you play through the game you will come across Artifacts. These drop primarily from the white and red containers scattered throughout the various biomes of Carcosa. Artifacts offer stat bonuses and sometimes passives and negatives as well Corruption effects, depending on whether there is an Eclipse. There are three attributes in the game: Elasticity, Commandand Drive.

Since the artifacts that drop are random, there is a chance that most of the ones you find will boost the same attribute. If you keep collecting the same attribute, pushing it far above the others and reaching the cap, you can trigger attribute volatility. This mechanic allows you to go over the attribute cap, but it comes with negative effects it can be quite difficult early on.

As you approach the cap, Artifacts will display a description during the boost, mentioning that there is a low, moderate, or high chance of Attribute Volatility triggering. The command attribute is changed to ignorance, preventing you from seeing the corruption effects on Arjun. The Drive attribute becomes negligenceand if you die during the current cycle, you will lose all yours Lucenite regardless of which nodes are unlocked in Armor matrix.

Finally, Resilience changes to arrogance and make it so you can't see the health of any enemies. This includes bosses, so during fights you'll see a gray bar that doesn't drop. When the boss loses enough health for the first phase to end, the bar will disappear, although the gray overlay remains.

These negative effects can be annoying, but as you progress and unlock more Armor Matrix upgrades, you become powerful enough that going over the top isn't necessarily a bad thing.
