In Clover Kingdom, there are a total of 9 Magic Knight Squads, each constantly competing to earn stars through missions and achievements, which ultimately determine their rank in the kingdom. While the number of stars a team earns is important to its reputation, it does not necessarily reflect its true overall strength or fighting ability in Black clover.

Purple orca

Captain: Kaiser Granvorka
The name “Purple Orca” may sound scary, but the team's reputation tells a different story. Under the leadership of Gueldre Poizot, a Magic Knight captain who was later revealed to have betrayed the Clover Kingdom, the image of the Purple Orcas was heavily tarnished, causing the squad to be associated with more controversy.
While the Purple Orca have a different captain now, under Kaiser Granvorka, who wields Vortex Magic, they remain mediocre at best compared to the kingdom's best Magic Knight teams. Unfortunately, they are forgettable, as most of their members have relatively unremarkable abilities.

Green Mantis
The Green Mantis also gets some screen time Black clovermaking it difficult for its members to shine on the battlefield. Even when they do get moments to appear, especially Sekke, they are often portrayed in a more comedic or underwhelming light.
The captain of the Green Mantis is none other than Jack the Ripper, who carries his magical band of knights on his shoulders. He is one of the most terrifying captains in the series, known for his slash magic that can cut through almost anything. The longer Jack's battle drags on, the stronger he becomes, as his Slash Magic continuously evolves by adapting to his opponent's magic.

Aqua Deer

Captain: Rill Boismortier
Aqua Deer, formerly known as Gray Deer, was once the most powerful magical knight squad in the Clover Kingdom under the leadership of Julius Novachrono, AKA the Wizard King. However, after Rill Boismortier assumed the role of captain, and its former members, Yami and William, went on to create their own squads, Aqua Deer has established itself in a more discreet but still highly capable Magic Knight unit.
This does not mean that Rill Boismortier is incompetent. After all, he is one of the youngest captains in the series, with magic so strong that even Yuno had to rely on Sylph in their 1v1 match in the Royal Knight trials. Rill's Painting Magic is a broken ability that allows him to manipulate paint at will. In other words, he can use color to create illustrations and bring them to life.

Captain: Dorothy Unsworth
Coral Peacock has a heavy sleeper captain named Dorothy Unsworth and an arrogant but solid magical knight vice-captain named Kirsch Vermillion. While Dorothy usually spends her time sleeping, even during crucial captain meetings, her awareness is far from lacking. She is also one of the most powerful of the captains, all thanks to her dream magic that gives her the ability to create anything in the dream world.
Kirsch, on the other hand, may look like a rogue vice-captain due to his flamboyant personality, but he is surprisingly perceptive and competent in battle. However, Coral Peacock has no notable members besides Dorothy and Kirsch, as most of its roster operates more quietly in the background.

Blue rose

Captain: Charlotte Roselei
Being a man in Blue Rose is a difficult position, as the troupe led by Charlotte Roselei is predominantly made up of female members. Men are treated as errand boys in Blue Rose, regardless of their potential. After all, the Blue Rose magical knight squad aims to prove that female strength and leadership are fully capable of rivaling and/or surpassing men.
But only two members of Blue Rose are widely known in Black clover. Besides Charlotte Roselei, who fights with her Briar magic, only Sol Marron, who uses decent earth magic, gets notable attention. Still, they are not to be underestimated, given that Charlotte can use True Briar Magic, in addition to having the courage to fight Yami Sukehiro herself.

Silver Eagle
The Silver Eagle is yet another prominent Magic Knight group populated with elite members who discriminate against peasants turned Magic Knights. Led by Nozel Silva, Noelle's eldest brother, who uses high-level mercury magic, the Silver Eagle has long maintained a high position in the kingdom until changes in influence began with the rise of troops such as the Black Bulls after Asta's arrival.
Each member of the Silver Eagle takes great pride in their nobility and magical abilities, especially Noelle's brothers. While Nozel is known for having mana greater than Yami Sukehiro's, his siblings, Nebra and Solid, excel in mist and water magic respectively. Not much is known about the other members of the Silver Eagle, but the fact that they have consistently held a high position among the Magic Knight squad speaks volumes for their collective strength.

Captain: Fuegoleon Vermillion
The Crimson Lion is a magical knight group filled with hot-headed members who are constantly striving for improvement and growth. Led by the charismatic captain Fuegoleon Vermillion, who is widely respected for his explosive fire magic that even Asta recognizes as an overwhelming force, the Crimson Lion is truly one of the strongest groups in the series.
Besides Fuegoleon, his sister, the iconic Mereoleona, who served as the Crimson Lion's temporary captain, is an Ultimate Magic user in addition to her high-level fire magic. Together, Fuegoleon and Mereoleona are absolute powerhouses for the Vermillion family. Besides these two, there is Leopold Vermillion, who also has the same drive to grow stronger and lead the Crimson Lion someday.

While the Black Bulls are known for their rowdy and stubborn members, the Golden Dawn has a strong public reputation for its charisma, elegance, discipline and elite noble members. The Golden Dawn stands as the number one magical knight squad in the series, whose members take great pride in their consistent excellence, refined image, and strict standards.
Within the Golden Dawn Squad, Yuno Grinberryall and William Vangeance are two of the most prominent members. Yuno is a four-leaf clover grimoire user, in addition to being chosen by the wind spirit sylph, while William Vangeance boasts incredible world tree magic. Other powerful members worth mentioning are Langris Vaude, Mimosa Vermillion, Klaus Lunettes and Letoile Becquerel, all of whom possess exceptional magical talent.

Black Bulls
Before Asta joined the Black Bulls, Yami Sukehiro and his band of misfit wizards were already comfortable with their poor standing in the kingdom. However, that quickly changed after Asta's arrival, as his relentless determination encouraged each member of the Black Bulls to grow stronger, improve their mindset, and take on a much more active and impactful role in protecting the Clover Kingdom.
The Black Bulls boast an anti-magic swordsman in Asta, in addition to having an overpowered captain whose limits are still unknown in Yami Sukehiro. The squad even has a heavy-hitter mage in Noelle, while Grey, Vanessa and Magna can use extraordinary magic spells. In addition, Luck is a relentless wizard who craves power and ruthless fighting, while the rest of the members provide crucial support through their unique abilities. Not to mention, the vice-captain of the Black Bulls, Nacht Faust, is formidable on her own, with her Shadow Magic and four devil familiars!
