Crimson Desert lets you clearly know when something is buried nearby

There are so many things Crimson Desert doesn't tell you, like how to double jump properly, or that you can cook meat with sunlight. While it's fun to discover hidden features or content from the community, there are some things the developers should have been more clear about: like using the spade.

In my 116 hours of play, I think I only used the shovel once, and that was for a mission. Given how massive Pywel is, spotting areas where the spade can be used is like finding a needle in a haystack. If you think the developers should have clearly marked these areas a little better, it turns out they actually have.

They are not graves

As pointed out by Reddit user Deathengine, Crimson Desert actually has marked areas where you can dig things up, but didn't make it clear what the marker was. If you come across a pile of rocks and a stick implanted in them, I wouldn't blame you for thinking it's a grave that should be left undisturbed. However, it is actually a sign that there is something to dig up close.

I remember coming across some of these “graves” and thinking that the Black Bears will pay to kill this poor soul. Little did I know that there might actually be some useful items or tools buried nearby and that I could finally use the most useless tool in my inventory. It seems that not many players realized this, even though the pile of rocks was there near the spade tutorial. We just didn't know we had to look for it every time.

“I'm only 200 hours in and didn't think to try it either. Always thought it was a tomb and didn't mess with it,” said one comment, which pretty much summed up what we all thought up until now. There were tons of other comments that mentioned they played for over 100 hours without knowing this. Now I know how to spend my next few hours in the Crimson Desert.
