Recent data efforts have finally revealed which Genshin Impact characters will be on the event banner in version 6.6, as the upcoming update promises to be about Pyro and Hexerei. Genshin Impact currently sits at an interesting juncture. The Traveler's time in Nod-Krai is slowly coming to an end, and HoYoverse has had over six months to develop the region's cast and their individual playstyles, with most characters either plugged into the Lunar Reactions or Hexerei system. Version 6.6 is meant to be a capstone for the latter, but not everyone is happy with the results now that the dust has settled.
Version 6.6 is set to introduce three more Hexerei characters Genshin Impact: Nicole, Lohen and Prune. Nicole is a 5-star Pyro Catalyst with an ability kit that focuses on ATK buff, coordinated attacks, and shield upkeep. Lohen is a 5-star Cryo Polearm with a dynamic playstyle that rewards teaming with sub-DPS characters like Durin or Xiangling. Prune is a 4-star Anemo Catalyst that provides powerful ATK bonuses to Hexerei teammates and has special synergy with Varka. Although these concepts are sound on paper, Genshin Impact players have not been very happy with the damage gap between Hexerei teams and Lunar Reaction teams.

According to Kuroo, version 6.6 will feature Nicole and Durin in the first half, while the event banner in the second half will be headlined by Lohen and Mavuika. Curiously, this gives players an enticing weapon banner in the second half of version 6.6, as Lohen is expected to be the next Standard Banner character in Genshin Impact – meaning his signature weapon will be rare and only available via the Mondstadt Chronicled Banner in the future. Given that Lohen and Prune started their drop marketing on the same day, the young witch hunter is expected to be one of the four stars on Lohen and Mavuika's banner. The other 4 stars for version 6.6 are currently unknown due to the lack of changes in the beta test run.
The reason why some Genshin Impact players are unhappy is deeply intertwined with how the HoYoverse has approached the endgame in Nod-Krai. Not only are most bosses made with Lunar Reaction teams in mind, but Lunar Reaction teams generally have a higher ceiling than any other archetype in the game. A Hexerei hypercarry that Varka enters Genshin Impact can't compare to Zibai, Flins, or Nefer at equal investment levels, and Nicole's introduction in version 6.6 hasn't bridged the gap as much as players had hoped.
Like I said, most of them Genshin Impact Characters can easily clear most of the endgame – with only the higher difficulties locked behind certain teams, great play, or high investment. If fans like a character's playstyle, whether it's a 5-star or 4-star, that should be the primary factor in their selection. Version 6.6 offers two hypercarries with fun playstyles in Mavuika and Lohen, and two supports in Nicole and Durin that can be placed in a variety of teams.

The first half of version 6.6 will start with the release of the update on May 20, 2026, while players can expect the second half to begin on June 10, 2026. Selected 4-stars for its event banners will likely only be revealed a few days before the launch, but many players are hoping that Chevreuse's banner will appear on Mavuika.
