Blizzard fixes Overwatch performance issues on Switch 2

Blizzard has officially responded to the frame rate issues affecting Monitoring on Nintendo Switch 2. Monitoring has seen a massive resurgence in 2026 following a rebranding, introduction of new heroes and a host of other changes. The title has made waves in the gaming industry, drawing in thousands of new players while welcoming back veterans who had dropped out.

A major highlight of the 2026 hero shooter is its ongoing Reign of Talon storyline. Expanding on that, Monitoring recently launched Reign of Talon Season 2, featuring a new hero, several balance tweaks, a meta event, and the long-awaited Nintendo Switch 2 port. However, the excitement surrounding the handheld port quickly dissipated when players encountered performance issues. The game is still limited to 30 FPS, similar to the original Switch version, and in some cases it performs even worse. The community had been waiting for Blizzard to acknowledge the situation, and the developer has finally stepped in to address the issue.

Blizzard aims to fix Overwatch performance issues on Switch 2

In a forum post, Blizzard has responded to the performance issues with Monitoring on the Nintendo Switch 2. The developer confirms that the game is currently running at a lower FPS limit than intended on the handheld. Blizzard has stated that a patch is in the works that will fix the issue, but no release window has been shared yet. It has also highlighted several other issues reported by players, including custom key bindings not saving, Mystery Heroes settings not updating correctly, and cosmetic bugs.

One of the biggest demands from Monitoring community has removed the cap of 30 FPS on Switch. So when Blizzard revealed the Switch 2 version, expectations were high as the developer had promised improved visuals, improved sound quality and support for up to 60 FPS in both handheld and docked modes. The goal was to deliver a smoother experience for fans on the go. However, the launch of the Switch 2 port has clearly fallen short of those expectations, which is why there is frustration among fans. Some gamers believe that the port offers a slight improvement over the original Switch version.

While Blizzard continues to work on performance fixes, players are still diving into all the new content introduced in Reign of Talon Season 2. This includes Sierra, the latest addition to Monitoring hero list. She is a DPS hero that comes with a powerful rifle and unique abilities. The update also brings back post-game awards, allowing players to recognize their teammates for contributions such as MVP, sportsmanship and overall performance.

Reign of Talon Season 2 also introduces improvements to the Map Voting system i Monitoring. Losing competitive matches on new or reworked maps now results in reduced rank penalties. If the majority of players choose a specific map, it will be selected automatically, and a new “Random Map” option has also been added, allowing players to choose outside of the default selection. With these changes in place, fans can't wait to see what Blizzard has planned for upcoming updates.
