My Hero Academia introduced shonen anime fans to an amazing array of supernatural oddities, many of them inspired by superhero characters from Marvel and DC, such as the X-Men and Justice League. My Hero Academia further divided this rich field of quirks into different types or categories, with Emitter Quirks being among the most common. There is still room for other Quirk types, such as mutant or body manipulation quirks.
As the term suggests, these are quirks that alter the way the user's body functions, often to give stronger minds, reshape limbs, or create biological weapons of all kinds. Some of them are quite powerful, like Jurota Shishida's Beast Quirk or Mezo Shoji's Dupli-Arms Quirk, while other body manipulation quirks are clearly the strongest of their kind in My Hero Academias story. Some of them helped make all the difference as the professional heroes, the UA students, and the League of Villains all clashed over the future of Japan.
Rifles perform deadly long-range attacks
User: Lady Nagant
Guns may rank last among the most powerful body manipulation quirks, though it's still worth taking seriously in any fight. Ranged vs melee is a common way to categorize Quirks into My Hero Academiawith Lady Nagant's Rifle Quirk being a great example of ranged only quirks. It's almost useless up close, but having teammates or friends can negate that vulnerability.
By itself, the Rifle is ideal for sniping, as the name suggests, and Lady Nagant can use her own hair as ammunition for this body mutation Quirk. She transforms her entire right arm into a biological rifle to make it happen, meaning no one can steal her weapon or make her drop it. Running out of ammo can be a concern, but a skilled Quirk user like Lady Nagant will know how to deal with it and ration her use of rifles in battle.
Meatball can turn any enemy into a helpless lump of meat
User: Seiji Shishikura
Some Quirks end up half-forgotten in My Hero Academia fandom, as these Quirks and their users play a minor, brief role in the overall story. It's a shame, too, because the students at the competitive Shiketsu hero school have some truly remarkable talents to offer. One of them is the meatball quirk that Seiji Shishikura used to terrorize Denki, Bakugo, and Eijiro Kirishima.
My Hero Academia: 8 Most Destructive Inventions Ranked (#1 Can Destroy a Country)
These quirks are extremely destructive and can cause great damage in the MHA series.
Seiji is apparently adept at using meatball in both direct and stealthy ways to subdue his enemies, to the point where he even got better at the Katsuki Bakugo. With one touch, Meatball can turn anyone into a powerless piece of meat that can't move or use Quirks. In doing so, Seiji placated dozens of rivals in the Provisional Hero License whom he deemed unworthy of being heroes. It's a shame that such a neat body manipulation Quirk was used by a self-important bully like Seiji.
Pump Up is ideal for melee matches
User: Muscular
A number of villains in My Hero Academia have mutation or body manipulation Traits, some are much stronger than others. Spinner's Gecko Quirk was never so impressive, while Moonfish's Blade-Tooth Quirk deserves an honorable mention. An even stronger quirk than either of these is the Pump Up, the weapon of choice for tough League of Villains member Muscular. This Quirk killed Kota Izumi's parents, and it almost killed Kota and Deku as well.

Pump Up is one of the simplest but most effective body manipulations My Hero Academiaallowing Muscular to greatly expand his muscles to send his melee power through the roof. Such strength easily rivaled what Deku could muster with One For All at the time, and there's even more. If needed, Muscular can max out Pump Up's power to coat himself in steel-hard muscles to ward off almost any attack.
User: Tamaki Amajiki
UA is home to three powerful third-years who stand above the rest, with Tamaki Amajiki being one of them. He is the only body manipulator among the three, with his Quirk being Manifest. It is the ultimate expression of “you are what you eat”, as Manifest gives Tamaki the ability to transform his body parts into whatever he ate. Most often, Tamaki chooses animals such as chickens, clams and octopuses for this job.
Such an ability is quite flexible in how it manifests, but the funny thing is that it doesn't actually sound that powerful in person. It may seem like the biological flexibility is the only real advantage of Manifest, but the punch is clearly much greater than fans might expect. Tamaki was the one who defeated three members of the Eight Bullets in the Shie Hassaikai arc, and he definitely earned his place among UA's “big three” as the timid hero Suneater.
Foldabody works for sneak and precision attacks
User: Edgeshot
The top 10 pro heroes all have incredible quirks and skills to use them, from Hell Flame and Fiber Master to Rabbit and One For All himself. An underrated top 10 hero Quirk is Foldabody, the one used by the ninja hero Edgeshot. My Hero Academia unfortunately didn't give viewers enough chances to see the Foldabody in action, but if fans focus on these scenes, they can see how practical the Foldabody is.
Foldabody is how Edgeshot manipulates his own body to compress himself into a living thread, which is a lot more useful than it might sound. With this Quirk, Edgeshot can slip in and out of any space with near-perfect stealth, and that's just the beginning. In a fight, Edgeshot can cleave the enemy like a living spear, and even neutralize tough Nomu when he hits them through the head. The strangest use of the Foldabody was when Edgeshot was transformed into a new heart for Katsuki Bakugo to ensure the young hero's survival.
Transform's awakened form can threaten all of Japan
User: Himiko Toga
As it was in its debut, Himiko Toga's Transform Quirk is actually one of the weaker body manipulation quirks, although it was quite useful to begin with. Transform was “weak” in the sense that it couldn't do damage, but it allowed Himiko to surprise her enemies while she was disguised. It makes it easy for her to stab someone when their guard is lowered. And of course that kind of stealth is good for espionage or sabotage.
My Hero Academia: 6 Weak Quirks That Would Be OP If Awakened
These weak quirks would have been OP if brought up in My Hero Academia.
It was after Transform's Quirk awakening when this happened My Hero Academiasecond strongest body manipulation Quirk. In her awakened state, Transform gave Himiko access to an impersonator's own quirks, with Zero Gravity and Double being the prime examples. With Zero Gravity, Himiko killed Curious in battle, and with Double, she nearly overwhelmed Japan with Sad Man's Death Parade.
Fierce Wings excel in mobility and offensive power
User: Hawks
Fierce Wings stands as the most powerful body manipulation/mutation quirk of all My Hero Academiaalthough the idea sounds quite simple at first. As X-MenWarren Worthington III, Hawks, the pro hero, has a pair of feathered wings, and flight is just the beginning. With those wings, Hawks can soar at astonishing speeds, either to reach a distant battlefield or avoid enemy attacks in the air.
On offense, the Fierce Wings are a devastating weapon, as the larger feathers can form sharp swords for the Hawks to use during high-speed blitzes from above. Dozens or even hundreds of Hawk's sharp feathers can fly around to stab or slash their enemies, as fans saw when Hawks killed twice in battle. On a milder note, Fierce Wings are great for evacuation purposes, as these wings can move countless people at once to clear out a war zone.
