One Piece teases Buggy's legendary Void Century Connection

One Piece's the final saga is well and truly underway, and Oda has already highlighted the main players, which also includes Buggy, who recently became one of the Yonko. Buggy may seem insignificant in the grand scheme of things, but he most certainly carries a legendary bloodline that ties him back to the Void Century. His importance in the final part of the story will be extremely significant, just like Red-Haired Shanks, his sworn brother and rival. Although Oda has kept Buggy's past hidden for the most part, it is clear that he may have ties to the Nefertari family from the Void Century and potentially be a direct descendant of Lily.

Buggy's bloodline will certainly be important in the final part of One Piece. The fact that Oda featured him alongside the main characters and even made him a Yonko confirms his importance. For starters, Buggy sports blue hair, which is related to the Nefertari family. More than that, his true past is unknown to this day. Buggy was adopted by the Roger Pirates, but his true origins are still unknown.

Of course, blue hair alone isn't enough to link Buggy to the Nefertari family, but when you look at the supplementary information provided by Oda for him, things become much clearer. There aren't many characters who share the same blood type as Vivi and Cobra, and even fewer who do so with blue hair. Buggy is certainly one of them. Both Cobra and Vivi were found to have blood type F. Shockingly, Buggy also has blood type F.

In the final saga of the story, Oda revealed that Queen Nefertari Lily once sided with the World Government. However, after the fall of the Ancient Kingdom, Lily helped Joy Boy for some reason and eventually disappeared completely, with the implication that Imu did something to her.

After her disappearance, Arabasta's throne passed to her brother and King Cobra, and Vivi is a direct descendant through that line. Lily's own line most likely continues to this day, and this direct descendant could be none other than Buggy, who carries the same blood type and hair.

Why Arabasta Queen had Bara Bara no Mi

nefertari lily Queen Bara Bara no Mi one piece

The most important link between Buggy and Lily isn't blood type or hair. Instead, the fact that they could carry the same Devil Fruit ability. Imu stated during the Reverie that Queen Lily was the one responsible for spreading the Poneglyphs throughout the world. If it weren't for her, the world wouldn't be what it is today, and the D would have been crushed.

Looking closely at the Poneglyphs, they bear the writing of the true history of the world and were forged by Kozuki. Among the Poneglyphs, 9 are said to be the Rio Poneglyphs that tell the true story of the Void Century. These nine Rio Poneglyphs were scattered all over the world, but at first Robin thought of them as a single stone. In Imu's own words, Queen Lily spread the Poneglyphs, and there is only one Devil Fruit that could have allowed her to do this, and that is Bara Bara no Mi, used by Buggy in the current timeline.

If it weren't for Lily's mistake that fateful day, the hideous relics known as Poneglyphs wouldn't have been scattered across the world. — Imu

Bara Bara no Mi allows Buggy to split himself into multiple parts, but if awakened it can allow him to do something similar to anything else in his vicinity. If Lily had the awakened power of this Devil Fruit, then it makes sense how she could split the Rio Poneglyph apart and spread it all over the world, preventing the D bloodline from dying.

It is important to note that Oda has already stated in the story that Devil Fruits find their ideal owners. Just like Yami Yami no Mi chose Blackbeard and Nika Fruit chose Luffy, Bara Bara no Mi likely chose Buggy because he carries the same blood as Lily and is a perfect fit. In other words, it could be Buggy who collects the Rio Poneglyph at the end of One Piece to tell the true story of the world. In that sense, it becomes imperative for Buggy to reach the final island, Laugh Tale, and uncover the true story, the true history of the world.

Buggy is treated as a gag character by most of the i One Piecehowever, his connection to the Nefertari family and his role in bringing about Rio Poneglyph's birth once again makes him incredibly important to the overall plot of the story and gives him new meaning.
