Pokemon champion will give away free Mega Stones for specific Pokémon to players to perform transfers from Pokemon Legends: ZA. There already seem to be some surprises involving Mega Evolution Pokemon championand the ability to Mega Evolve four different Pokémon just from passing them over from another game could be a great way to get players started.
Nintendo recently revealed that the official release date for Pokemon champion on Nintendo Switch will be available on April 7, 2026, with a version for iOS and Android phones coming at a later date. The free to start Pokémon the game will take place in an arena-like format, focusing almost exclusively on battles, with options to play in ranked, casual or private matches. Players will also be able to challenge each other in cross-platform action when the mobile version is released, and the game will feature both single and double battles with teams of six Pokémon.

One aspect that the development team at The Pokemon Works has been hyping up in the days leading up to launch is the inclusion of Mega Evolution in Pokemon championand a new announcement reveals how the game will make it easier for players to get hold of some early Mega Stones. The official Nintendo of America Twitter account shared information that players can get free Mega Stones for transferring the fully evolved forms of the original Kalos starters from Pokemon Legends: ZA to the Pokemon Home app and then send them to Pokemon champion. Doing so will allow players to potentially collect the Mega Stones required to Mega Evolve Greninja, Delphox, and Chesnaught, along with the Eternal Flower Floette.

Greninja, Delphox and Chesnaught have been around since then Pokemon X and Yand they fit right in Pokemon Legends: ZAas both games take place inside Pokémon the Kalos region of the world. Although the Pokémon it's based on has been around for just as long, Eternal Flower Floette is a unique Pokémon that first became available in Pokemon Legends: ZA and can only be obtained once per run. To get an Eternal Flower Floette, players must have already completed the game's main story, then accumulate at least 50,000 Combat Points in Infinite ZA Royale, collect a Challenger's Ticket, and finally complete 15 different reward matches against top trainers.
A key feature of Pokemon champion is its compatibility with Pokemon Home, an app that allows storage and easy transfer of Pokemon between several different games in the franchise. Fans will be able to play Pokemon champion without Pokemon Home access, as the game will allow them to perform recruitment actions to acquire new Pokemon for a week at a time, and they will be able to spend Victory Points to get more recruits or to make their recruited Pokemon permanent additions to their roster. But the draw of bringing in Pokemon from games like Pokemon Legends: ZA and Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is a strong one. It allows for continued adventures with these Pokémon and allows players to enhance them with additional training, including changing their abilities and adjusting their stats, even if the training results do not appear outside Pokemon champion.
Giving away free Mega Stones is just one way Pokemon champion attracts players through the allure of Mega Evolution. A recently released trailer for the game also noted that certain Mega Evolved Pokemon will be able to gain powerful Pokemon abilities, which will be exclusive to Pokemon champion. There isn't a comprehensive list of these exclusive abilities right now, but those that have been previewed include Mega Feraligatr's Dragonize, which turns all Normal-type moves into Dragon-type moves, and Mega Meganium's Mega Sol, which mimics the effects of harsh sunlight and allows moves like Solar Beam to be launched without charging.
