Adaptations are just one of many ways you will learn to survive and adapt to the alien planet you find yourself on Subnautica 2. Adaptations are genetic mutations your body undergoes that allow it to take on foreign characteristics, such as being able to eat and digest the strange marine life here.
This concept will be introduced to you right from the start, as one of the first things NoA will have you do when you wake up is use the nearby Angel Comb to unlock the ability to breathe high-pressure air. From then on, any additional customizations you can unlock are done using the same method, only you need to find the Angel Combs yourself.
Subnautica 2 is currently in Early Access. For this reason, you will see six customizations listed in the menu, but the bottom two have not been formally added yet and are still unknown.
All Angel Comb locations
right now, there are four customizations you can unlock in Subnautica 2, including the one you get in the tutorial. You can see them listed under the Customizations tab in the game menubut you will only see the ones you have unlocked listed.
That means there are only three angel combs you need to track yourself, but it's not as easy as it sounds. The last two Angel Combs will be infected, and you will need two different tools to clean them before you can unlock their customization.
One unlocks the heat adaptation and requires you to do it clear two Bloom Nodes of infectious Canker Blooms. To do this, you have to use the Sonic Resonator to blast them. The other Angel Comb that requires a similar process is the one that unlocks Axum Vision, but this one will have three nodes to clear, each with two Canker Blooms infecting it.
You'll know a node has been cleared if it starts to open. If all nodes have been cleared, there may also be some remaining Canker Blooms near the main Angel Comb you have to clear. If everything is cleared, the Angel Comb should be opened. If it doesn't, you've missed something.
Unfortunately, The Canker Blooms on the final Angel Comb are not the same as the ones you've cleared before and will close if you approach them. So to clear them, you need the Feedback Resonator upgrade for the Sonic Resonatorwhich is manufactured at the Modification Station. This allows you to shoot at them from a distance before they have a chance to close.
Following the purple Titan Rockbore tendrils that extend outside Angel Comb is an easy way to find the nodes, if you're having trouble.
With all that in mind, here is locations of every Angel Comb currently in the game, as well as their nodes, if they have them.
