Now is the perfect time to start playing Pokemon Legends: ZA

Regardless of whether you dropped out Pokemon Legends: ZA or never started your journey in Lumiose City, March 2026 is actually the perfect time to visit the Kalos region for a multitude of reasons. Pokemon Legends: ZA came out in October 2025, and less than two months after launch it already received its first (and probably only) DLC in the form of Mega Dimension, which added tons of content for players to complete. Even if you don't love the game's different combat style, it has become a must-play Pokémon fans who want to collect a bunch of rare animals or those who like Mega Evolutions.

Recently, Pokemon Legends: ZA finally got an update on it Pokemon home compatibility, which had been teased before launch and never talked about afterwards. As confirmed on Pokemon Day, Pokemon Legends: ZA will allow fans to move animals to and from Homeand also to the future Pokemon champion. This is a big deal, because now there are more reasons than ever to go through Pokemon Legends: ZA's Season 8 Ranked Battles and DLC, especially in preparation for Gen 10 and the future of VGC.

But that's the tip of the iceberg:

  • Pokemon Legends: ZApp Pokemon champion campaign allows you to transfer a Chesnaught, Delphox, Greninja, and Eternal Flower Floette caught in-game to the upcoming battle title, unlocking the Mega Stones for these four Pokemon instantly.
  • Speaking of, if you want to get Eternal Flower Floette and Mega Floette Pokemon Legends: ZAthe effort to do so takes a long time. You must first beat the game, then unlock Infinite ZA Royale with another quest, then get a ZA Royale ticket and beat the random opponent 20 times. The process can be quite long and tedious, and if you want to get it done sooner Pokemon champion launched, it's best to get started now.

  • To unlock Mega Stones for Chesnaught, Delphox, and Greninja, you must play through ranked battles. You can get points even if you place last, and these are all early rewards, so it goes fast.

  • Pokemon champion' game will feature ways for you to boost a Pokemon's EVs and IVs with in-game resources, but this is extremely easy and quick to do in Legends: ZAso it would be wise to do this for a bunch of Pokemon and then transfer them when the game starts.

    • Likewise, it's easy to perfect a Pokemon's moves with TMs before transferring from Legends: ZA to Pokemon home.

  • Pokemon Legends: ZA new Mega Evolutions from the base game and DLC are over 40, and since they will most likely all become available in Master at some point, whether at launch or later, it's worth grinding for them beforehand.

Why March 2026 is the best time to play Pokemon Legends: ZA

Mega Zygarde with Nihil Light - Pokemon Legends ZA

Now that Pokemon Legends: ZA's Mega Garchomp Z is out, all Mega Evolutions are in the game, and no more will be added to the online Ranking Battles. This means you can get them all at once and get the rest by playing through the campaign and DLC without a time limit. In addition to that, if you want shiny Pokemon, Mega Dimensions Donuts offers the perfect way to get them, allowing you to transfer all those creatures to Home and then to Master or other games if you wish. For all these reasons, if you haven't played Pokemon Legends: ZA yet or completed all the different quests it has, now is the best time to start.
