Throughout the timeline of Solo Levelingmany different characters have appeared as powerful hunters from different countries. Some of them have been S-tier hunters, national level hunters, Guild Masters and much more. While these characters often have their own special abilities and can hold their own in battle, some have been significantly sidelined or tragically passed away too soon.
Solo Leveling: The Strongest Characters Cha Hae-In Can Defeat, Ranked
These Solo Leveling characters don't stand a chance against Cha Hae-In.
Some of these characters were originally featured in Solo Leveling as powerful and formidable hunters on the battlefield, with little chance of being defeated. However, they were either quickly sidelined in favor of furthering Sung Jinwoo's development as the greatest hunter or killed immediately. Here are the top six Solo Leveling characters who deserved a better ending.
Liu Zhigang
National level hunter from China
-
The second strongest in the world
-
Called the hero of China
-
Doesn't have much screen time
Liu Zhigang is considered one of the strongest hunters in the world when he enters second place among hunters at national level. As with all national-level hunters, he possesses Ruler Authority and Spirit Body Manifestation, but he also has some other special abilities, including Energy Slash Attack, impressive speed, and he has mastered the art of sword fighting.
Despite his impressive stats, however, he rarely has any screen time in either Solo Leveling manga and anime. He is top tier and incredibly powerful, but is quickly sidelined in favor of Sung Jinwoo's development. Although he is still alive, there is a small chance that his character will be more properly trained and given the chance to shine.
Sung Il-Hwan
Sung Jinwoo's father
-
S-Rank Hunter
-
Sung Jinwoo and Sung Jinah's powerful father
-
Lost in a dungeon for years
Although Sung Jinwoo begins his journey as an E-Rank hunter with virtually no potential, he eventually becomes the strongest hunter who ever lived. It only makes sense that this power must have come from somewhere, most likely stemming from his father, Sung Il-Hwan. He was one S-Rank hunter who was suddenly trapped in a dungeon during a raid and unable to return to his family.
Solo Leveling characters that can defeat a national level hunter
These characters in the Solo Leveling anime are strong enough to defeat even the best and most powerful hunters in the world.
However, Il-Hwan and Jinwoo eventually reunite, but it is short-lived. Soon after their meeting, Il-Hwan's the body dissolves into shards of light and disappears, and Jinwoo can't get closure. Having lost the ability to be with his family, it would have been a better ending for Il-Hwan to at least give him enough time to be with his son and explain his situation before permanently leaving.
Lee Joo Hee
B-Rank Healer
-
Healer who survived the Double Dungeon incident
-
One of Jinwoo's old friends
-
Retires from being a hunter
When Jinwoo was just an E-Rank hunter, he had a very different set of friends by his side. This included Lee Joohee, who was a B-Rank healer, who was with Jinwoo during the Double Dungeon incident and survived. If it weren't for her, many more tragedies would likely have occurred. But she soon retired from work as a hunter.
Due to the trauma she received as a hunter, Lee Joohee soon decides to leave and can no longer handle the stress of the job. Eventually, she and Jinwoo drift apart, especially when he becomes infinitely stronger. It was sad to see Lee Joohee's story end in such a way, as she was one of the first to truly support Jinwoo and encourage him.

Go Gunhee
S-Rank Hunter
-
Chairman of the Korean Hunters Association
-
Dedicated to protecting others
-
Had hunter skills at the national level
As the chairman of the Korean Hunters Association, Go Gunhee was a very important person among hunters and was incredibly powerful. He devoted most of his work to protecting humanity and supporting his hunters, especially Sung Jinwoo. He did what he could to encourage Jinwoo and was as a mentor figure to him.
Solo leveling: 6 most heroic characters in anime, ranked
These characters are by far the most heroic in the Solo Leveling anime series to date.
But under War of the MonarchsSillad suddenly appeared in his office and attacked him after a difficult fight. Although Jinwoo finds him and tries to save him, he eventually succumbs to his injuries and passes away. It was a sad ending for another character who was there for Jinwoo from the very beginning, and he deserved an ending that showed how important he was.
Christopher Reed
National Level Hunter From America
-
Third most powerful in the world
-
From America together with Thomas Andre
-
Possessed by Itarim
Christopher Reed was the second strongest national level hunter to come out of America, but much of his story is left unexplored in Solo Leveling. Early on, Norma contacts him and tells him of a vision she had seen that he would soon be killed. He eventually becomes trapped in one dimensional gap and addressed to three monarchs and does not survive very long.
For someone who was a national level hunter, his rapid fall was incredibly surprising and did not allow fans off Solo Leveling to see him in action. Although he survives in the revised timeline, he soon becomes possessed by Itarim and dies once again, giving him no chance to ever influence the future of history. He deserved to be given more time to shine.
Go to Ryuji
Strongest hunter in Japan
-
S-Level Hunter
-
Guild Master of the Draw Sword Guild
-
Defeated by the Ant King
Although Goto Ryuji was not part of the National-Level Hunters, he was still one S-Rank and was considered to be most powerful in all of Japan. By sheer strength alone, he was able to defeat enemies with just the use of his sword, and was able to knock them down with just a few hits. He could easily defeat almost any Korean S-Rank hunter, but his arrogance soon gets the best of him.
8 Strongest A-Level Hunters in Solo Leveling
A-rank Hunters are the front line of defense but lack the god complex and narcissism of S-Rank hunters. Here are the strongest.
When up against Ant King during the Jeju Island ArcGoto Ryuji is almost instantly killed by him, much to his surprise just before his demise. Although it was often shown throughout the manga and anime that he was too arrogant for his own good, his quick fall was incredibly surprising and didn't allow fans to truly see his full potential. It would have been interesting to see more of him against Sung Jinwoo, but he was quickly removed from the story.
