It looks like Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is going to be a big hit when it comes to Switch 2 this summer, as it's already sold out on the Square Enix Store after being revealed a few days ago.
It's kind of funny to think back to when Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth was considered a bit of a sales flop when it launched two years ago. Since then, Square Enix has moved away from console exclusives and started bringing out most of its games on all possible platforms, notably including Final Fantasy 7 Remake on Switch 2.
Before the Remake had even launched, it was immediately clear that it was a huge hit, as physical copies sold out at several storefronts near launch. It looks like that will be true for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth as well, as it's already starting to happen just days after the reveal.
FF7 Rebirth's Switch 2 Port has sold out days after its reveal
And at the Square Enix Store, of all places
As pointed out by Twitter user Stealth40k, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth's Switch 2 port has already sold out on the Square Enix store in the US, despite only being revealed three days ago. Stock is still available in the UK version of the store at the time of writing, but it looks like it will go fast too.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth had too many minigames, but was that really a bad thing?
Square Enix has packed the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy with optional side activities.
There are a few likely reasons for this. For starters, Final Fantasy 7 Remake started selling out on Switch 2 close to launch, so anyone even slightly interested in owning it physically will likely jump in to pre-order it before stock runs out. The other big reason is that the Switch 2 version of the game comes with an exclusive Zack Fair Magic: The Gathering card, while supplies last.
These factors combined make it easy to believe that Rebirth is already selling as well as it is, but it will be interesting to see where it goes as we get closer to launch. Square Enix will likely make more stock available, after all, so don't count yourself out just yet if you didn't manage to secure a pre-order.
