Nintendo's Hits for the Holidays 2025 Sale is now live

Nintendo fans can now save some money on several digital Switch and Switch 2 titles during the Hits For The Holidays sale that started on the Nintendo eShop on December 22. Nintendo customers have until January 5 to make offers on titles such as Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition, Hades 2, Hollow Knight: Silk Songand Super Mario Odyssey.

The Hits For The Holidays event comes amid a busy gaming shopping season. Despite the rising cost of games and consoles, that hasn't stopped Nintendo and various third-party developers from offering various deals for customers to consider. Although Black Friday has long been considered one of the busiest shopping seasons, companies such as Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft have also used the end of December as a profitable window to offer discounts on various items. These include last minute deals on gifts like a new Nintendo Switch 2 case or microSD Express cards in various sizes.

Nintendo's hits for the holidays sale is dominated by deep discounts on third-party titles

Although Nintendo is known for its first-party classics, several third-party games have been markedly discounted on the eShop. The most eye-catching discount currently on the Nintendo eShop applies Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Editioncurrently priced at $17.99 for the Switch 2. 75% off the regular $69.99 price tag is the game's deepest discount yet, even lower than the prices previously listed for Cyberpunk 2077 on PC flagships like Steam and GOG Galaxy. Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition comes with both the base game and the Phantom Liberty expansion. Even if Cyberpunk 2077 is a graphically demanding game, the Switch 2 version uses Nvidia's DLSS upscaling technology to render the game at a higher frame rate without sacrificing too much graphic quality in either TV mode or Handheld mode.

Other third-party games available at a discount include Ball x Pit, Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles, No Man's Skyand Hades 2. For games available on both the original Switch and Switch 2, the discounts are the same on both consoles. However, buyers should double check which version of the game they want to buy and check which ones have a Nintendo Switch 2 upgrade option available through the eShop. When it comes to discounts on first-party games, some of Nintendo's previous Black Friday deals have returned for another round. Super Mario Odyssey and New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe is now down to $39.99, while The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, Fire Emblem Engageand Princess Peach: Showtimee are available for $41.99 each.

Now is the best time to jump to Switch 2

Nintendo's Hits For The Holidays event comes at an opportune time for gamers looking to save money where possible. As the cost of games, consoles and accessories continue to rise through 2025, the problem has since been further compounded by the ongoing RAM shortage crisis. Additionally, an internal memo from GameStop stated that the Switch 2 Mario Kart World the bundle has been discontinued by Nintendo, and that additional stock would only be the base Switch 2 console. On December 22, Nintendo confirmed on social media that the Switch 2 Mario Kart World the package was still available in limited quantities at retailers such as Best Buy and Walmart. Ergo, users who want to get the Switch 2 Mario Kart World bundle for Christmas still has a small chance to get it before they sell out.

Between the ongoing Nintendo eShop sale and a slew of Switch 2 titles slated to arrive in January, gamers will have no shortage of options to fill out their Switch and Switch 2 game collections. What surprises Nintendo has in store for early 2026 remains to be seen.
